Does anyone know why Disney just lists chips, apple or softdrink as examples of snacks. Not any of the great stuff listed here.

Because those are the official, absolute, across-the-board, 'covered' snacks.

These (and the single-scoop box of popcorn, and the ice cream novelty) have been the official, published snacks since the inception of the Disney Dining Plan in 2005.

In 2006 and 2007, Disney expanded the definition of snack by indicating 'covered' items with a symbol on the display.

This year, they have cut back on the latter to allow for only items intended to serve one person.

If you compare the DIS list, you will likely notice inconsistencies among various locations. All any participating location HAS to allow is the published items.

So better snacks such as a funnel cake or frys would be covered at mk do you think?

We used our snack credits for funnel cake at the MK. We couldn't use it at Epcot because the funnel cake stand is not computerized as of yet. I'm not sure about fries because we don't eat fries.

We also used snack credits at the candy store on main street for Mickey shaped rice crispy treats.
