Stiches great escape

Sorry, but that statement is just wrong.

DW and I enjoyed AE. We both hated SGE. We'll never ride it AGAIN because it was so bad.

Just curious as to how my opinion is wrong because it is different than yours?

Sorry if I offended. Certainly there will be those few who really liked AE and there will be those few who will really love Stitch.

It is interesting to note that this ride format has never lived up to its billing with either attraction. Also interesting that this format has never been duplicated (it's no wonder).

I just think Stitch helps to make the attraction more relevent than AE while being, in the overall, no better or worse. pirate:

Because you never rode it. How do you know it's bad ? Opinions of AE from people who have actually riden it vary across the entire spectrum of "great" to "sucks". I don't understand how you can claim it's too bad to even try it based on what's been post about the ride.

wow..........so sad. This is an example of how Disney had really missed the market (again) :guilty:

I haven't found a single attraction in that building to be fun or exciting. Mission To Mars was the first attraction that I remember going on in that building and I didn't care for it. EAE came next, I think, and I didn't care for that either, although it was better than MTM. I haven't been on Stitch yet so I can't offer an opinion, but from what I have read it doesn't sound good.

Sorry, but this attraction is lame, lame, lame, LAAAAAMMMEEE!!!!

Without any prompting, every member of our family used tha same words.

But I did not think AE was much better. Just louder.

Sorry - I should have said never rode it again! We indeed went on AE and it terrified my 6yo niece so bad that she was leery of every other ride in the park and wanted to spend her vacation at the pool - HA HA! I still have higher hopes for Stitch although most people have been panning this ride! I'll let you know come July!

Well, I enjoyed AE also, the first time, but it wasn't a must see each time I went. It was one of the first Disney attractions where they took risks to scare people or at least be more thrilling than your standard Disney attraction and it seemed to work, a bit.

This, however reminds me of the CTX going to Dinosaur, where they try to take a more teen/adult themed attraction and tone it down it for children and it doesn't work.

It makes me wonder what's next? Will they add a character to Tower of Terror and make the descent really slow down the elevator shaft so kids will "enjoy" it?

The problem with Stich is not that they tried to tone it down, its that a good part of the attraction just doesn't provided anything to keep anyoner entertained or even interested.

A large part of both SGE, like AE before it, is based on 3D sounds and what has become known as 4d theater effects (water spayed on you, smells blown at you, filiments tickling, etc). While AE was not a great attraction, its 3D sounds and 4D effects came at a fairly brisk pace and were convincing enough to be entertaining. SGE, on the other hand, almost completely fails in this category. There are long periods where absolutly nothing is happening. When the 3D sounds do take place, they are boring and not very creative. You mostly hear stich moiving around the theater saying things "boing, boing, boing" or " you cant catch me, neener, neener, neener". As for the 4D effects, they are next to non existant (one filiment tickle, one smell (a burp blown on you by Stich), one water spray and one bump from your shoulder harness).

AE wasn't the best attraction ever built, but it beats SGE simply because its used its effects more often and better SGE does. With its amazing Stich animatronic and use of familiar characters and story, SGE should have won hands down. Instead, it failed because they simply didn't use the effects at their disposal well and left long dead spots in the show.

I beleive the show can be fixed. Tighen up the story, use the Stich aninmatronic more (or add more animatronic Stiches around the theater), use the effects more often and remove the dead spots and you could have a real E-ticket here. I have only one concern. This show is so heavily based on 4D effects and the time where these effects could be used as theb main theme of a show may be past (but that is a topic for another thread).

Couldn't agree more. During the dark portion, my 7 yr old ds said "okay, they can turn the lights back on." I reached over and held his hand thinking he was a little scared and said "it will be okay. Don't worry." He said "I'm not worried. Nothing is happening. This is so boring." My kids have never, ever complained about any ride/show at Disney being boring. They have their favorites and some things they might not want to do every time but they have never said something was boring at Disney before. When it was over and the restraints lifted up, they honestly thought we were going into another room for the actual show! They were shocked to know that was all there was to it. What a disappointment.

Just wanted to say that AE gets another vote here! We all loved it...and miss it... but I can't say anything about SGS bc we haven't done it.. oh well...

DH and I were in WDW in mid November. We were really looking forward to seeing SGE as it was the only new ride or attraction since our last visit, and my DH loved AE. We were at WDW for 9 days and couldn't believe how long the line was for SGE everyday. The fast pass, if one could be gotten, was always hours and hours away. So we kept putting off going, thinking surely the next day would be better on the lines. One EO morning, as soon as we made it inside we went running for SGE. It was down for repairs, but the Fast Pass was operating. We decided to get the FP that was scheduled for about 3 hours out.

When we came back at our appointed time, SGE was still down. As we were standing there it became obvious that if we waited just a few more minutes it would re-open. YES! we were finally going to see it! The ride that always had a stand-by line of 60+ minutes.. it must really be great! WRONG! :sad2:

I realize they had some constraints, utilizing AE's building and set, but this is Disney! Surely they could have done better. If the rumors are true and they are closing this to rehab, good. My suggestion would be to scrap the whole thing and start with a good STORY line. They have such great talent there, they should use it.

Bottom line, if we had waited in line to see this, I would have been very upset. As it is it was a waste of a good FP. Sorry to be so negative. I love my trips to WDW, I love the rides and the attractions! I was just really disappointed in this one.

I KNOW! I can not believe the lines for SGE-even on slow days. I guess because it is new. We went on it during the AP preview and with a friend visiting at Thanksgiving and we all agreed it stunk. I really hate how they took S.I.R. and added stupid face parts to him. My friend said all he could smell for hours was that chili dog-ha.

What?!?!?!? They added face parts to S.I.R.???? How stupid is that. No one has mentioned that yet - I had no idea. That sucks a lot. S.I.R. was one of the most amazing pieces of technology Disney had, and they covered it up with a face? Man they crapped out on this...I wish the creatives still had some control at Disney. :guilty:

I guess I'll be a contrarian here and say that our family (especially DD, 5) enjoyed it.

This should be prefaced by saying:

* Not I, my DW or DD ever went on AE. We have no comparison.

* We have a DD who is very into Stitch and couldn't wait to ride it.

* Our DD is a park enthusiast seeker (we live near Cedar Point in Ohio and have season passes both at WDW and Cedar Point) and is not really bothered by anything.

It's possible my DW and I enjoyed it because our DD loved it so much. She was so excited to go on the "ride" and her eyes lit up and her laughter made it all worth it.

Just my long, rambling two cents to say that we enjoyed it and look forward to future "rides".

I had read all the bad reviews but had to see for myself if it could be that bad. It was! I couldn't wait to get out of there. The shoulder restraint was hurting me and when I left I had a sore back. I have no idea why the bar has to be pressing down so hard. I would never go in there again as it is so stupid. The lines were long last week and I wanted to tell the people not to waste precious time.

I liked AE the first time we went on it... mostly because of the elements of surprise and we had a good laugh. but then after that, my daughter wanted to go on it.. but I felt it was a one time thing, no surprises anymore.

We just saw SGE in December and I went in with an open mind hoping it would be fun and different...

I just didn't get what was going on in the dark. Okay the chilie dog breath maybe, but the rest was just nonsensical and then it was over - I was really disappointed and even the kids thought it was dumb.

We all agree we like that one critter in the left side glass case... he is so sweet :)

I'm normally pretty positive, but I can't find anything nice to say about this attraction other than the articulated mechanical arms that have a "personality" are done well. Here is the small list:

1. The seats are terrible! They have a large, hard plastic circle at the back that does not go up your back and an edge digs into your spine. My whole family was yelling "How are we supposed to sit in these seats" before the show started.

2. The effects bar that looks like a restraint bar is also uncomfortable and digs into your shoulders

3. It is boring, boring, boring. Our 12 y/o DD said/asked on the way out, "I don't get it".

Avoid this attraction. There are always lines because it is new, but it need to just be replaced. There is no "ride". You just sit in a small, circular auditorium the size of a small flying saucer and watch the center area where a tube makes Stich appear or dissappear. The show is dark half the time where you see the same effects you are already used to now in the 3D shows, water sprayed at you, water vapor in your face, something in the seat tickling you, etc. What a waste of real-estate.

My 11 year old daughter liked it as well as AE...I pretty much think they suck equally.
