:sad2: I just saw on the news that Stephen Curtis Chapman's little girl Maria, was killed today. Her older brother hit her while backing out of the driveway.
It's sooooo sad.

That is so sad - the poor brother - they seem like such a close family - this fall we saw SCC in Lancaster, PA and his boys were playing in his band - soooo sad....gives the Cinderella song even more meaning....

This is terrible - I have friends from my old church that moved to Tennessee and are friends with them. I wonder what they know (his son and my friends son went to school together)

I was just talking about SCC last night because I love his music and I was watching AI.

I'm babbling - sorry - I think I'm in shock. I will pray for their family!

I heard about this on our local news last night & it is just unbelievable. We saw him last Dec. at the Candlelight Processional & have met him before while he was touring in our area. I feel so bad for all of them.

I saw that on the computer last night, and I just can't get it out of my head. We recently adopted two children from Russia, and he has songs about adoption that I used to listen to that helped me get through the waiting period. His family is such a beautiful story, and those girls are just so precious! And Maria was their "baby". Oh, I just can't imagine what they are going through. I feel so badly for their son, too. What an horrific thing to have to carry with you for the rest of your life. Such a tragedy.

That is so tragic! A similar thing happened a couple of years ago not far from here, a mother backed out of her driveway, thinking her 3yr. old dd was in the house with her dh, and ran over her.

I would encourage you to watch this music video, it is a song he wrote about his two youngest daughters, which was released a few weeks before the accident.

After the song is over, there is a short piece explaining what inspired the song. It's very poignant.

Just thought I'd share for anyone that missed it, Good Morning America aired the interview that Robin did with SCC and Mary Beth, along with the older 3 kids this morning. Be prepared to cry, because it was full of photos and video clips of Maria and the family together.

Also, SCC and Mary Beth will be on Larry King Live tomorrow evening for anyone interested in watching.

Stephen has changed the last line of "Cinderella" as well as added a new verse to the song "Yours" after Maria's death. Both are worth listening to. If you get a chance to catch him on tour with Michael W. Smith this fall I would highly encourage it. Tour kicks off in October.

Whew, I didnt watch this yet = I know I'll cry....

I am planning on going to the Bethesda Concert on Halloween - I cant wait for it - those are my 2 favorite singers!!!! Is anyone opening for them?

Wendy

Thank you for posting this.I forgot to tivo this. What an incredibly strong family. What a true heartbreak this is for them.Whenever I listen to this song I will always think of Maria.

Our daughter is doing a lyrical dance duet to his "Cinderella" song in this upcoming dance competition season. It makes me teary every time I listen to it. During the spring recital DH and the other dad are coming onto the stage to dance with the girls. I don't think there will be a dry eye in the place! And now after watching that interview I think I will be even more emotional!

Did any of you see Larry King last night? I thought it was great.

My church is hosting a Cinderella Ball this weekend in honor of Maria and to raise money for Shaohannah's Hope & 2 other orphanages. Dads and daughters will be able to enjoy some one on one time and esp. get to dance to Cinderella.

PP, I'm sure that dance will be beautiful!!

OMG! I just cried enough to last for months. How touching! The support they are to each other just encourages me. They are truly a special family.

We met Steven last fall in Lancaster. We went to the concert to volunteer in the Shaohannah's Hope booths, as we were the recipients of a grant in '06, when adopting our little boy from Vietnam. Steven is so friendly and down to earth, just a really great guy. I cannot even fathom this tragedy, but the family's faith is so strong - they are special people, for sure.
