I usually don't have any problem when I mention to the CM at a show that I can't climb steps very well. That is except at the Festival of the Lion King. The CM there didn't want to let me into the HA line because I didn't have some sort of card. I insisted and he did let me go in the line without steps, but he wasn't particularly nice about it. Does anyone know what sort of "card." Is this something I should have when going to Fantasmic, for instance?

Thank you.

The "card" is a Guest Assistance Card, or a GAC. If you want to avoid stairs, a GAC would be helpful for any place that has stairs.

There is more information about Guest Assistance Cards in post 6 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. You can find that thread near the top of this board or you can follow the link in my signature.

You shouldn't have needed to go in the handicapped line to avoid stairs at Festival of the Lion King. Just advise the castmember when you actually enter the theatre. There are no stairs to climb outside the theatre and there is seating on the floor. Sorry the CM wasn't pleasant about it. There is no excuse for that

::yes::
There are several rows of seating on the floor. Some of it is reserved for the parties of guests with wheelchairs and ECVs since that is where the parking spots for those guests are. Some of the seats are used by people CMs are directing to sit there. And, there are seats not marked with a wheelchair symbol that are not specifically assigned.

Hi Bobbi! Do you happen to remember whether the stairs at FoTLK have hand rails on the sides? For instance, I know Fantasmic doesn't, which is why I no longer go to that. Last time, a very nice CM helped me to my seat, but I don't think they're supposed to "touch" the guests-fear of lawsuits. But most other places I've gone have handrails, so I stay on the side and hug the handrails. However, I haven't been to either FotLK or the "Finding Nemo" show in a long time so I'm wondering about my ability to get around in those. Any tips?
