Maybe this is what I need to finally get my accountable for what I eat!

My brief background, I was 130 pounds when I graduated college in 2000, 145 when I got married in 2004, 155 when I got pregnant with my first in 2005 and 2 kids and later, I'm sitting somewhere between 175-180...I don't feel like weighing myself. I was 186 3 months after my second kid was born, so i've come down a little...but every time I get to 167, I stop dieting and go back up above 170. It's time to stop that pattern

We are new DVC members and making our first family trip to Disney in March, so my goal is to get down to 155 by then...20 or so pounds in 4 months. That should be doable.

I'm a new stay at home mom...I'm still getting used to not working. I live on an Army post and am part of a gym co-op program, where I work one hour a week and can work out from 9-11 any day of the week and another mom will be watching my kids. I only worked out twice this week so far. I like to walk outside, pushing my son in my jogging stroller, when it's nice. We also have a treadmill at home and a lot of weights, so I really have no excuse!!!

I was in the Army and a college tennis player, so I know I have it in me...

Actually, it's not the exercise that I find difficult, it's the healthy eating. I eat horribly...and the worst part is, I hide my bad eating from my husband! I sneak the treats and eat while cooking. This has got to stop!

So, my goals to start are

at least 30 minutes of exercise - 5 days a week
only 2 meals a week that aren't consistent with a healthy diet plan
No random snacking on junk
only drink wine on Friday and Saturday
drink at least 80 ounces of water a day
I'm also trying to walk/run/elliptical 400 miles before we leave for Disney. Starting with yesterdays long walk, 5.5/400

Hi Steph and welcome!

Your weight sounds alot like me .The same problem, not with working out but eating-that is the issue.I know how and what to do and eat but man the ability to stay away from the bad stuff is tough.

Your goal sounds totally doable.March is a great time for Disney.

Keep posting!

Linda - Thanks for your kind words

Today has been a pretty good day. My husband is a professor at West Point, and the cadets had their term paper due on Thursday. Therefore, he has been grading papers all day. He is hoping to finish grading before Thanksgiving. So, I have been hanging out with the kids all day.

I ran 4.75 miles during nap time. It is so beautiful here. Part of my run took me long a road overlooking the Hudson River and also down the corridor where the academic buildings are. It is also really, really hilly here. I have lived a lot of places, and this is by far the hilliest place I have ever lived.

Eating wise has been ok, but not great. When I'm trying to lose weight, I try to track my calories on My Plate, and so far I have 1200 calories today...but I haven't had dinner yet. I'm trying to keep my caloric intake under 1500 calories a day, and I don't see that happening today...but weekdays are usually easier than weekends for that. However, I have eaten a lot less today than I think I do on a typical day and no kitchen snacking . It is amazing how fast calories add up when you track them. Yikes. Also, the run burned quite a few calories.

I think that's it for today. I need to drink more water for today, especially after that run. Tomorrow I plan to go on at least a 3 mile walk.

Go Army! Beat Notre Dame!

Hi Steph,
Great job on beating the hills! I envy those peole who just eat what they wantand just have a high metabolism- my brother is like that. Never thought about a calorie in his life.

Have a good walk today- hope it stays nice out and little wind .

Last night didn't go as planned. My husband decided it would be a great idea to order pizza, and despite my total plan to only eat one piece, that didn't happen. I ended up with way more calories yesterday than I should have. I only had 2 glasses of wine, which is much better than a normal Saturday night, so that is a positive

Today has been good. I had an early dinner, and will have a healthy snack later in the evening. My calories are on track, the Redskins won, my fantasy team is destroying, I am on track with my water intake, the kids have been playing nicely together, and I went on a nice 3.5 mile walk.

My plan tomorrow is to walk to school in the morning, walk straight to the gym, lift weights for 15 minutes and run for 30 on the treadmill. It is supposed to be nice out tomorrow, so I'm sure there will be plenty of outdoor play time too.

Hi Steph,

Welcome to WISH journals. Congrats on becoming and DVC owner. You much be very excited for your first trip "home". It sounds like your goals are very doable. I've found these journals to really help me stay motivated so I hope they will keep you going too. Best of luck, I look forward to following your story.

BTW, pizza is always deadly for me too. I can just never stop at one slice.

Thanks lolakat! I can't wait for our first trip. Animal Kingdom Lodge is our home resort, but we just finalized our paperwork for the DVC resale and most of the places were already booked for the week we are going. Therefore, we are staying at Old Key West. I'm getting so excited already.

Another good day. I did everything I planned to do as far as exercise, walked to school, gym - weights for about 20 minutes and ran 3 miles, and then walked home.

I was on track with eating too.

We had a fun evening. My husbands department had their Turkey Bowl game, so we all were down at the smaller football stadium watching. My son (2) and daughter (4.5) ran around the whole time. They are pretty wiped out.

Tomorrow will be tough to find time for exercising. I have another commitment in the morning, so I can't go to the gym during the childcare hours. If it isn't raining, we will walk to pick DD up from school. School is .6 miles away, so it gives me a nice 1.2 miles roundtrip...plus she walks the whole way too. I have a jogging stroller for DS. I need to walk the treadmill for 30 minutes during nap time...but I have to pack for Thanksgiving. Ok, I will walk for 30 minutes and pack after.

Have a great night, anyone who may be reading this!

I'm back from a family trip to NH and ready to get back on the exercise train. I won't even go into the ridiculous amounts of unhealthy foods that I ate over the weekend. There is no use dwelling.

The good news is (not really good news, since it involves surgery...) my normally very active husband will be having shoulder surgery next week and will not be able to work out, so he has decided that he needs to go on a diet until Christmas. It will be so much easier for me to eat right when he isn't trying to get me to eat pizza or other unhealthy food 2-3 times a week.

So, tomorrow I have to pick up my dog in the morning...so i won't be able to go to the gym. But, I will walk on the treadmill either at nap time or after bed time.

Other than eating the last cookie, from the batch I made last Tuesday, today was a good day. Even with the cookie, I am within my calorie goals...just not enough healthy stuff when I add in that 180 calorie cookie.

I spent way too much of my day with my new mac. My old one is on it's deathbed, so my husband got me an early Christmas present. It took forever to transfer everything and my itunes is still a little messed up.

I managed to walk/run 3 miles during nap time. My son has a fever, so he won't be able to go to day care at the gym tomorrow....so I will have to make time for the nap time treadmill again tomorrow. My other goal for tomorrow is to do at least 15 minutes of weights.

I didn't have time to write last night.

I made a nice discovery last night. The scale that I had been weighing myself on is 3 pounds heavy! After some comparison with the gym scale and weighing known weights, we determined that a different scale is correct. I just can't let this news deter my weight loss, now that I know that I am 172 pounds. Either way, I have lost 5 pounds since November 22nd, considering that this includes the Thanksgiving holiday, I'm extremely happy.

Now, this is how my weight loss typically goes....I get down to 169 and I stop or start cheating or just totally stall and get upset. This time, I can't let this happen. We aren't sure if we want a third kid, but I really want to be no heavier than 160 if I do get pregnant again. I had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies, and the lighter I am, the less likely I will be to get it again.

I ate perfectly yesterday and also walked for almost an hour, between the treadmill and outside. I did about 20 minutes of weights.

Today I'm planning on going to the gym, but my DS is really, really, grumpy.... I'm not sure I want to subject the other moms to his mood. We will see.

It's been a few days, but I've been pretty busy, and I tend to not write when I haven't been as good.

I was perfect on Wednesday, ran 3 miles at the gym, and ate healthy all day.

Thursday - Had a great workout at the gy, lifted legs and did the elliptical for 30 minutes. Ate well, up until dinner time. We went to get our Christmas tree and ended up at this really cool store that sold awesome fudge and other great things. They had the uncooked pizza dough, so we decided to make pizza for dinner.

Friday - Went to the gym, but had unit Christmas party at night and the food was mainly fried junk. I didn't have any dessert though

Saturday - We went into New York City and did a bunch of walking, but had a burger for lunch and calamari and filet mignon for dinner

Sunday - Pizza for lunch, rest day for exercise. Healthy dinner.

Ready to start the week and do a little better. Although, my bad days were not as bad as my bad days usually are. I didn't drink at all and I didn't have any desserts.

Sounds like you had a fun and busy weekend. It is always harder to stay on track when "out and about." Great job fitting in all the exercise.

Your doing great! Nothing wrong with bad days, it's better to eat something in moderation than to have craves for it and then you tear into it like you'll never eat it again. I think you are doing just wonderful! :cheer2:
