Just wanted to remind fellow SK fans that 'the cell' comes out on the 24th.

I haven't been reading much about it (I have been deleting my SK fanmail to not spoil it) so I am really excited.

Hope you all enjoy it and look forward to discussing it with you after reading it.

Please post if you enjoyed it or not, as I will as well. (there are some books that I was NOT happy with, IE From a Buick 8 and Everything's Eventual...I had already read or heard all of the stories in Everything's Eventual via different 'only coming out on this form' SK promotions that I had purchased, just to find them all in writing in that book. Also, "From A Buick 8 was a bad spinoff of 'Christine" and I felt it was written in haste, although I did like the reference to the lobstrocities when the one gentleman was sent to the beach....ahhh...I can't believe that I can't get lost in Roland's world anymore, but, I digress)

Entertainment Weekly did a really mean thing! They posted the first few pages of the book in this weeks magazine. I was ready to run right out and buy it after reading the beginning, only to realize it didn't come out for four stinkin' days!
The beginning was great, I can't wait to read the rest of the book. The reviews have been excellent!

I thought it didn't come out till Tuesday, but the public library called me today and said that the it had come in and I could pick it up! (I had put in a reserve for it months ago and was first on the list.) So I guess I'll get it tomorrow when I go in to work.

I do have to ask (and sorry if this is a spoiler for some), how did you like the ending to the dark tower series? I, personally thought it was genius as Ka is a wheel, and the end is always the beginning.

...the man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed..."

I did think he copped out on building up the Crimson King in so many other books though, as the Crimson King came off as a scared rabbit in the final DT.

anyone else share this feeling?

My biggest problem with Stephen King is that several of his books are great in the beginning (and middle) and then disappointing at the end. It's almost like he puts all his energy into it at the start and then gets tired of it and tries to tie things up with some hokey ending.

The last one I read like this was Desperation - it had me hooked until I got towards the end - I don't think I even finished it.

The Stand was similar (even though it is one of my favorite books of all and even the movie was done well). The ending just seemed kind of silly.

Oooh, I agree about Desperation. I really liked it up til that point--it was very good. I thought all of The Regulators was silly, though. I didn't feel that way about the Stand but I do about a lot of his books. I liked the endings of Shining, Firestarted, and Christine.

So, he is not retired anymore? :teeth:

Why do celebrities even bother with announcing their "retirement". Why don't they just say they are going on "hiatis".

How many times has Garth "retired? Cher? She has been on her "farewell" tour for 6 years! LOL

I knew when SK announced he was "retiring" we had not heard the last of him. I used to be a huge fan, but have found he was getting more vulgar than scary....I don't rush to buy his books anymore.

I seem to remember reading that Stephen King often had a hard time ending some of his books. He seems to have a hard time wrapping up the story and leaving his characters behind.

I'm glad that this new book is coming out though. I've been hoping that with some time off that he'd come back revitalized and with new ideas.

My library definitely didn't get word that it wasn't supposed to be out till Tuesday. I now have the book in my hand and if too many people don't have problems with computers today and can have a good bit finished by closing at 5! :cool1:

Target had it out on the shelf yesterday! My DH was over the moon.

my dad is a big SK fan. he is too way out there IMO. Can't get into his books any more. Used to read them.

:cool1: Thanks for the info. My husband loves to read SK. His birthday is coming up and he will be thrilled to get it.

Would you find it rude if I said that I hate you with every ounce of my being? I can't get the book until tuesday...this is sooooooooooo beyond unfair

I'm going to throw a temper tantrum now...please excuse me

Please give us your input!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a part of the Stephen King Library. They send me the new releases in the mail. About a month ago a book came, I was all excited thinking it was the new book, early for SKL but it was Salem's Lot The Illustrated Edition :sad1: According to the dust jacket it has "50 pages of alternate and deleted scenes" I just started reading it but I will probably put it down when The Cell finally arrives. Can't wait!!

You can hate me...I'll be okay. As of 7:40 Saturday evening, I have finished the entire book! :cool1: :cool1:

I liked it a lot and now I'm terrified to pick up my cell phone...

Maybe 'hate" was not a strong enough word in my previous post to you...hmmm...detest?

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh...I have to wait until Tuesday...this is sooooooo beyond unfair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't even know he had a new one coming until I read about it in People last night. I'll see if they have it at Costco this week, I can get it for about $10 less than in the bookstore. I'll probably be up all night the day I get it. :coffee:
