Day 3
Day 4 Wednesday 3rd September
Our last day, and as if the weather was showing its sadness that we were leaving, it rained all day. It was cooler than it had been on the previous days as well, although I managed to go around in a light jacket without being cold.
We were back in the Park Side Diner for breakfast this morning, so that was good. The three of us all preferred that restaurant to the Manhattan.
After breakfast we finished packing and checked out, then put our bags in the bagagerie. We got to the Studios at about half past 9, and the queue for Crushs Coaster was a lot smaller than it had been on Monday. By the time the park opened, though, the queue was massive again! I was definitely glad that wed got there a bit earlier we had a far shorter wait once the ride opened.
This time I went backwards, and the experience is definitely different. I saw a couple of things I hadnt seen the first time around, although I preferred going forwards, if only because I felt more dizzy when I came off the ride after going backwards!
On our way from Crushs Coaster to the Tower of Terror, DM and I spotted Mickey Mouse in a character greeting area, with quite a small queue. So of course we dashed across and got some photos with Mickey!
He was quite amusing he took DMs arm and pretended to run off with her, and when I played along, stamping my foot and exclaiming Give my mother back! he put his thumb against his nose and waggled his fingers in a kind of nyah way. It was funny.
Excited from her encounter with Mickey, DM decided to come on Tower of Terror with DF and I (DF had gone to get Fast Passes while DM and I were queuing for Mickey, but the queue for the ride was only 5 minutes, so we just walked on). Once it was over her reaction was, Is that it? Haha. DF said later that hed been really nervous for the whole ride because he was worried DM wouldnt like it! But I knew shed be fine!
DF and I then went on RnRC again, before the three of us headed out of the Studios and across to Disneyland Park. They had a band playing just inside the entrance, which was a really nice touch to the Main Street theming.
We walked through the shops on Main Street, buying a pencil for my grampy on the way (he collects pencils from around the world he has over 250!), and taking some photos in silly hats.
We got ourselves Fast Passes for BTMRR (can you tell that we like this ride?!), and since the time for it was only half an hour away, and it was raining a bit too much to just wander around, we went into Colonel Hathis Pizza Outpost. My parents had some coffee, and we set up the timer on the camera in an attempt to get a photo of all 3 of us.
The music in there was quite strange they went from playing an instrumental of Onward Christian Soldiers to Colonel Hathis March!
It was still raining when we rode BTMRR, so that added a slightly new element to the ride!
While we were on BTMRR, DM and I noticed that there was literally no queue for Phantom Manor, so we went straight over to that once wed come off BTMRR. We looked around Boot Hill afterwards, which we hadnt done last time.
We went over to Discoveryland then, to pick up a FP for Buzz Lightyear. Once again, the FP time was only half an hour away so while we waited we went around the Nautilus. Never having seen 10 000 Leagues Under the Sea, I cant quite join in with it, but DF likes it. I personally find it a bit creepy!
Our Fast Pass for Buzz Lightyear didnt really take us far into the queue we still had to go through the inside queuing area, and the outside queuing area wasnt very busy anyway. The pre-ride Buzz Lightyear audio-animatronic was working today yesterday thered been a curtain around it, hiding it from view. I managed to get a higher score than DF, finally I got 70 100, while he got 62 500. DM also got a personal best of 28 300. DF said the only reason Id won was because the ride stopped three times, and each time Id been in a better position than him to aim at the targets. Pff, sore loser or what?!
After my triumph, we went into Fantasyland and did Its a Small World followed by Casey Jr again. Since it was raining, the CMs at Casey Jr were only loading the covered cars, which made the loading a bit slower, although DF and I ended up in the seat that faces backwards, so we got a different view of the ride!
Staying in Fantasyland, we rode Snow White (or Blanche Neige as shes known in France), and then went into the castle and up to the second floor where they had the story of Sleeping Beauty in the stained glass. Wed never seen that before, and the stained glass was beautiful, so we were quite impressed.
From there you can also go out onto the lowest balcony of the castle, which gives you a view over Fantasyland. It was quite exciting to be up there!
Wed decided to have a late lunch so that we didnt have to worry about getting something to eat at the airport, and by now it was 3 oclock, so we went over to the Plaza Gardens Restaurant.
Since we didnt have an ADR we had to wait, but we were seated within half an hour.
The meal was okay, but I was a bit bummed about the fact that the restaurant was split in two (one half not ours had characters walking around it) and the half we werent in had doughnuts and cookies for dessert. I wanted doughnuts and cookies! A little girl from our side went across and took some cookies, and was actually told by the chef that she wasnt allowed to cross the barrier! He did let her keep the cookies, though.
By the time we left the restaurant it was almost 5, so we decided to watch the parade one last time before leaving. We watched it on the castle stage, and then went through the Discovery Arcade to get to the bottom of Main Street before the parade reached there. We got there just as the second stop was coming to an end, and DM went to take a photo of Mickey on his float. At the end of the song, the sparkly streamer ribbons were released, and I desperately tried to grab one as they floated downwards. A child grabbed one before I could, and a few got stuck in the tree. I was so upset! But then I noticed a gold one lying on the pavement in the disabled area. I literally dived towards, and snatched it up triumphantly. It was mine! I had one at last!
We left the park for the last time, with me feeling very pleased with myself!
Once we were back at the hotel, we got our bags, my mother changed her trousers (the ends of hers had got wet so had the ends of mine, but I didnt really care!), and then we caught the 6.10 coach to Charles de Gaulle Airport.
We arrived at Bristol airport at about half past ten, and we were home just before midnight. It was a tiring day!
I think we spent just the right amount of time there it was long enough so that we could do everything we wanted to, but not so long that we were running out of things to do. Ill always be a WDW girl at heart (first love and all that!), but DLRP is definitely a great way to experience the magic closer to home!
Thanks for reading, and thanks for all your lovely comments
