We have never been on a cruise before but after watching the Travel Channel's special on the Disney cruises and being big Disney fans we are considering a 3 or 4 day cruise. One of the activiities listed is the Stem to Stern Wine Tasting. Is this offered every night? Do they offer different wines each night? Any information would be appreciated.

The "Stem to Stern Wine Tasting" is an afternoon event, not an evening event.

Take a look at recent Navigators at http://www.dcltribute.com/ for the days and times on 3, 4, and 7 night cruises.

I went to the wine tasting on the 3/23/02 Disney Magic cruise. The cost was $12. It was a very basic, beginner-level wine tasting. ("Riesling is usually fruitier and sweeter than Chardonnay.") If you expect advanced wine tastings such as at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival, you'll be disappointed. I think they have the same wines each time, even on the 7-night cruise when the wine tasting is held twice.

The "Stem to Stern Wine Tasting" is fun, and includes a unique way to open a bottle of sparkling wine.

And it gives you a chance to try a few of the wines on the dinner wine list. I particularly enjoyed one of the wines at the wine tasting, so we ordered a bottle at dinner.

When can you book the wine tasting? Where? We waited too late last time and it filled up :(

I booked the Wine Tasting at Guest Services. I would suggest do so the first day if possible.

They offer different wines at the tastings. Dh and I did back-to-back 3 day-7 day in 2001 on the Magic (Wonder in drydock) and again back-to-back 7 days in 2002. We did the wine tasting once on each cruise and it was different wines each time. Some stay the same, some change. ie - always have Fairy Tale as the sparkling wine.

O.k. . . has anyone tried this at home? My DH gave it a shot to no avail. We had to open the bottle the old fashioned way.

If you were successful, can you PM me with the tool you used and how it went. I don't want to ruin the fun for those who have not seen the demonstration.

Thanks!
