Stelmach elected Conservative leader and Alberta premier
POSTED AT 6:25 PM Saturday, December 2
Alberta Conservatives have elected a new leader, and a new premier. Ed Stelmach was victorious early Sunday morning.
Polls across the province closed at 7pm Saturday night.
The second ballot vote followed last Saturday's first ballot, which saw Jim Dinning, Ted Morton and Ed Stelmach emerge as the top three.
The following were the (unofficial) results as of 1:00 am (mountain time) Sunday morning after the main vote count.
Jim Dinning - 51292 (35.5%)
Ted Morton - 41243 (28.6%)
Ed Stelmach - 51765 (35.9%)
Because of the method used in a second ballot, second place votes were then counted, and left Stelmach with over 77 thousand votes. CTV will have final numbers and reaction coverage Sunday at 6pm.
I am so pleased to see this fellow win! Jim Dinning is a slickster and a financial good ol' boy.
