Steep price increases at Rancho del Zocalo

I'm from a high cost of living area and even 3 years ago Disneyland was cheap for me. I'm moving toward one park meal a day. Plus Our family is going gluten free dairy free for our babies.

:offtopic: Let them know your diet restrictions where you're eating. Disney has some nice options that are unknown if you don't ask (i.e. Gluten free rolls at blue bayou).

Yes, I suspected that prices would continue to rise. Can you imagine when StarWarsLand opens?
Plaza Inn chicken increased as well, I think it's like $17 for the chicken dinner?
I tend to rotate between Plaza and Rancho when I visit.

Now, I'm going to let the Corn Dog fans in on a lil secret :cool2:
You can still get the Corn Dog for less than $8...just order the corn dog only, no chips.
Now unless they've raised the prices since I've been (May 2016) it should cost $6.50.
I don't need the chips anyway, and if you do, just buy a bag before you go.

I was upset they raised the price on the Matterhorn Macaroons: $1.99 to $2.99 :mic:
I stopped buying the churros a looong time ago. I still feel the urge to buy one, cause they smell so good. I come to my senses when I remember Costco sells delicious large churros for $1.

I think that place is the best kept secret for breakfast in the park. Great food choices (American or Mexican) and you can sit outside and watch the Big Thunder trains go by.
Disney pricing is always outrageous. Finding a bargain there is rare. When I'm on site, I realize what I'm in for and just go with the flow. $4 for a churro, OK. I'm not NOT going to get one.

I wonder if they see sales fall of when prices go up. I am also planning to just say NO a lot. My budget is my budget, upping prices doesn't mean you"ll get more money from is. It just means I'll rely more heavily on outside food and drinks.

We only ate snacks in the park (dole whip, ice cream, root beer float) because of the prices. We did a good breakfast at the Embassy Suites, hit the parks, had a snack (mostly ice cream type stuff - it was hot) went back to the hotel where we had cold drinks and a light early dinner (In and Out Burger, pizza etc) and then back at the park by 6:30-7 pm till close. We did our one splurge on the WOC Dessert Party and for us it was worth it. It was that or the Blue Bayou Paint the Night dinner package. After DH saw the ambience of BB he said we should have done both....but we were on a budget for food and I picked WOC Dessert after reading the reviews about the relaxing enjoyable experience most people had with WOC recently. DH loves both the roasted Turkey leg and the corn dogs in WDW but the prices in DL (our last trip to WDW was in 2010 so its been awhile) really just made him wait to eat our late afternoon break.

When I went to the parks in 2015, the chicken dinner was $15.99 and I thought that was crazy!

I don't think some of the prices at the park are that far off from other places. There is a chain here in California called Black Bear Diner and they have a fried chicken meal that is $15.99.

A burger place around here called Barney's has hamburgers that range from $10.99 to about $14.99 and that doesn't include fries.

Maybe it's because I live in the Bay Area but the DL prices are about the same as what i pay around here. And yes, the quality of some stuff is not the same, but there is a lot that is!

Also, Pizza Press (that everyone raves about), across the street, is actually more than Pieology, Blaze and MOD by a dollar or two.

Yep, I agree.

Plus the prices seem more painful because you are paying to eat every meal out which a family likely doesn't do at home.

I guess im the type of visitor that Disneyland Loves because while im there i don't really care for prices. i know going in that it will be a pretty expensive and we go to enjoy the themed food. We do still try to save, we will share meals and eat breakfast outside unless we are doing a character breakfast. But for Breakfast we are simple coffee people so that saves us a bit too. I live in the bay area and our theme parks here charge about $10-$15 for either a corn dog with fries or chicken tenders with fries. so Disneyland is not that bad to me.

This is why we often just eat a small breakfast at the hotel, have a huge lunch (oh, I miss you Big Thunder MT BBQ), and then I'll have either a big ice cream or split a turkey leg in the evening. It's bad enough that ticket prices have gone up astronomically. But food on top of everything else....bad form.

Just because there are always going to be places in the world more expensive than DL doesn't mean their prices aren't inflated. I eat breakfast and dinner offsite and only a small lunch or snacks onsite.

Thanks for the tips on corn dog under $8.
Reading all these food talk makes me hungry. LOL

That's what I posted in a previous post. lol
Imagine if there was pictures... I don't think I would survive! :rotfl2:

Same with the price of the corn dog! Grr! It was $6 now it's $8.75!:sad1:
I'm told that corn dogs are markedly cheaper at Golden Horseshoe than at the Main Street wagon. I'm a longtime vegetarian myself so I don't speak from experience. But I'm told a single CD with no sides is around $6-$7 there. Good luck!
