Hi,
Wondering if any of you Pittsburgh Dis'ers would know if these hotels are decent, clean and in safe area? Also where is the best place to get 2 tickets to a game, either November 21 or December 12. Thanks so much! Trying to see if we could go for DH's Christmas/birthday present :)

Clarion hotel - 401 holiday drive, Pittsburgh (My AAA office had no feedback on this hotel)

Crown plaza- 164 fort Couch Road, Pittsburgh

If you know of any other hotel under $80 a night/within 20 minutes of Heinz field that would be great! We're used to staying in Days Inns.

Best place to get tickets would be stubhub. Not cheap. The steelers have a huge fan base. Get a hotel on the north side or directly across the river from the stadium. You can walk across the bridge on game day. Otherwise, pittsburgh is too confusing to drive around. Too many bridges and one way streets. I dont think either of those hotels is in the downtown area.

Yes, I would definitely look for a hotel on the northshore or downtown Pittsburgh. The one you listed on Fort Couch is in the suburbs and quite a distance from the stadium and the other is out off the parkway. You can walk to the stadium if you stay on the northshore or downtown. Good luck finding tickets. All games are always soldout so you can only get them from a reseller, and they are in demand.

We always stay at the Hampton on Smallman Street. It is a walk to the stadium, but it is doable. You have to walk across the bridge to the stadium...there are always lots of people walking over to the game. We have tickets to sell, but not for the dates you want to go. We lucked out and got tickets for the home opener this year from ticketmaster. It is fun!!

How funny!!! My husband and son are die hard Raider's fans (tattoos and all) and for my son's birthday, they are travelling from Virginia to Pittsburgh for the game on the 21st and we too are in the process of finding a inexpensive, but safe and clean place for them to stay over on the 20th so they can get up and tailgate early before the game! I went to Hotels.com and got some good ideas for hotels within 5-10 miles of Heinz stadium. Last year, they flew to Oakland for the Redskin/Raiders game and had a blast!! This year, Pittsburgh was as close as they could get to seeing them.

Guess I forgot to ask which hotels are within walking distance or have a shuttle to the stadium, don't want them driving down the wrong way on a one way street!:scared1:

There is no such thing as a safe place for a raiders fan in pittsburgh. :lmao:

Renaissance is right across the Clemente Bridge downtown. Very nice hotel with a reasonable parking garage $5-10 right across the street. Parking around the stadium is expensive $30 and up IF you can find it. Tickets are always available depending on what you are willing to pay. Have had success with Ebay and Steelcitytickets dot com. Bought an AFC Championship game ticket from Steel City and was a little leery of the pickup location inside a bar downtown but it was fine. Good Luck and GO STILLERS!

Wow how strange. DH has tickets for both these games! He got them back in July as part of the individual ticket sale. Dh goes with friends to 2 games each year. One is his late father's day gift and the other is an early Christmas gift.

DH says you are going to be hard pressed to get a hotel on Saturday evening for under $80 a night when you factor in the super high taxes. He says you are looking more like $100 a night. Hotel prices will be cheaper on nov 21st. But he has stayed at a hotel in the same area as the Clarion and it is a fine area. You are not going to be walking around but its safe and fine. He isn't sure how clean the hotel is. But DH ALWAYS stays in the Oakland area.
Hope that helps.

As for tickets I think your best get is stub hub.

Grrreat!! He did say he would NEVER go see the Raiders at the Raven's stadium again, that was just too dangerous!

All in good fun. Just teach him to say that the immaculate reception was one of footballs greatest moments. And then offer to buy the first round of iron cities.

My experience with buying tickets is thru ticketmaster.com. Go to that site the Thursday before the game. I always check late morning or mid afternnoon. What happens is the visiting team has to return the tickets that are given to them by the home team. The Steelers then release them for sale.

I was able to get 2 tickets to this past Sundays game with Cleveland at face value.......
The tickets are going to be in the upper level (519 to 524), but if you ask me, those are the best seats in the house.

I will not pay anything above face value...

Good Luck and HERE WE GO! STEELERS!!!!!

I just found a website heinzfieldhotels.com that has a little map and the hotels on the northshore and downtown and where the stadium is located. Hope this helps.

I've looked at all the hotels that I would consider staying at if I were in the same situation and everything in the lower price range is booked (or too disgusting to consider  )

I think if I were you what I would do is stay at the Hyatt at the Airport - they have a gameday package that includes transportation with a rate of $159.00 for the Nov20-21 date.

They have a rate that is around $120 for the same night - and you could always just take a bus on your own to Downtown - but there is something to be said for transportation arrangements being made for you. (Ahhhh Magical Express!) :cloud9:

Plus they wouldn't even need to worry about getting a rental car or anything if they are flying in (can't remember what your past said, OP!) The hotel is attached to the Airport.

Good luck!

I can walk from my house to the Crown Plaza on Ft Couch! It's been recently renovated (say within past 5 years) and is quite nice. The area is extremely safe. Not an issue to be walking by yourself at night here.

It's across the street from South Hills Village mall and other shopping and eateries (TGIF, Olive Garden, Red Robin, McD's, Eat 'n Park).

You could also take public transportation to the game. There is a train/subway system known as the "T". This would take you downtown to shopping/dining area called Station Square. From there you could then take a boat with the Gateway Clipper Fleet over to the game.

Parking will be an issue down by the stadium. Virtually all of the lots are pre-sold. I was looking for a parking pass this past weekend for the game and the cheapest I could find was $70 over at the Carnegie Science Center. I saw others going for $150+.

Thank You Thank You :yay::woohoo::cool1::worship: You have no idea how much I appreciate this tip. I went on ticktmaster the day they went on sale the same hour and the Dolphin and the Ravens game was sold out! I have been on ebay and craigslist faithfully trying to find tickets below 140 no luck. I just looked on ticketmaster website and sure enough they have them listed there for this Sunday's game. So you have given me faith now that I can get some!
