We are considering buying a Stearns & Foster Violeta Mattress, never owned this brand at all but the sales guy spoke highly about it. I'm wondering if anyone here purchased this brand lately and can offer a review? Or, Please feel free to recommend a good Mattress for around $2500 or less.

Thanks!:)

Mattresses are such a matter of individual tastes and preferences. We bought a Sterns and Foster and absolutely hated it. We moved it into the guest room and the in-laws spent a couple of nights on it and then went out and bought the exact same mattress for themselves. They love the thing. It is supposed to be a high quality mattress, but the feel was not for us.

It is really all about what feels good to you. We wound up with a Sealy and I love it. DH is okay with it.

I would suggest going to a place that has a computer where it has you lie on a mattress and takes into account your preferences and gives suggestions of specific mattresses you will like. I know Mattress Firm has those, and I think there are several other places that do too. We did that and its recommendations were right on for each of us. Of course, the problem was that nothing matched on DH and my lists because we like completely different types of mattresses (I prefer softer and he prefers firmer).

Good luck! I hope you find one you love! I'd recommend getting it from somewhere that if you decide you hate it, you can send it back.

I bought one a few years back and did not get the pillow top. My mom got the exact same one but she got the pillow top. I think the plush (mine) is better. I am ok with SF not wowed with it. But again such personal taste. When I was at YC CL I tracked down the mattress they used there and was actually going to buy one - the entire set in a king was around 1200 vs. the 3k I paid for SF. That being said though, SF seems to last longer than most. I am happy enough with it, wouldn't pay to trade it.

We bought a S&F about 10 years ago. I know, not recent. I would never buy another one. We got a pillow top. I was so comfortable when we got it. We loved it. A couple of years later, it had troughs where we sleep. We turned it regularly. It is so uncomfortable now. We hate it. For what we paid, we do not feel that we got our money's worth.

Now, I realize 10 years is about the life of a mattress, but this went bad several years ago. We just haven't had the money to get a new one. They also offer a 10 year warranty, which I did not take advantage of. I am kicking myself for not following up on that but just didn't make it a priority. Also, we took off the tag!! (I don't remember doing it or why, but we did.) I was afraid we would be arrested or something if we contacted them about the warranty. (Also, the warranty papers say the tag needs to be on.)

Anyway, I won't get another one.

We just recently purchased a Simmons Beauty Rest Eurotop mattress, I think for around $1200 and I am pleasantly surprised and pleased with it. It is a firm/plus. We had looked at Stearn & Foster but I am glad I went this way :). Good Luck! I laid on a ton of mattresses for a long time before we picked this one.

We just purchased a S&F firm pillow top with memory foam layer. So far we are very happy with it. We tried a lot of different brands and models before finally landing on this one. We considered Simmons Beauty Rest, but nothing was quite what we wanted. My first "adult" purchase was a beauty rest ack in '95. We still have that set at our summer place and it is still comfortable for limited use.

We purchased a Stearns & Foster mattress about 3 years ago and it's been pretty nice. I do wish I would have picked out a little softer model than I did, but other than that it has held up perfectly so far. We got one that has the foam edge around the entire mattress so you don't feel the coils when you sit on the edge of the bed. The coils are of course individually wrapped, etc. My favorite thing about the mattress is all of the handles on it for turning it! We are religious about rotating it every 3 months -- mostly because the handles make it incredibly easy to do.

I feel it was a great purchase for us and I have no real complaints. Next time we will get some sort of Tempurpedic mattress I think but those are spendy. :) Make sure you lay on each mattress you try for at least 10 minutes (unless you hate it right away). I did that and it really helped me determine which firmness I liked. I also do not recommend getting a pillowtop because they will get very lumpy in a short amount of time...no matter what. I got a plush top and those don't get lumpy. You can always add a topper if you want a more plush feel.

We bought a new set of mattresses a couple years ago and I laid on every mattress I could find including sterns and foster but in the end we chose the Beauty Rest. It is not a pillow top as I had not heard anything good about the longevity of those. My husband likes his mattress very firm and I like mine soft like a nest and this set satisfies both of us.

I have the same problem as one of the others above. I purchased the SF pillow top approximately 10 years ago. I loved it for a while but noticed a couple of years ago that it had troughs were I slept. I sleep alone, I had been turning the mattress and am not overweight so I was surprised that it didn't hold up better. The depressions in the mattress make it very uncomfortable, but I haven't had funds to replace it. This thread has inspired me to call them and see if it's still under warranty.

We just purchased a king size Beauty Rest World Class mattress last week for $1500.00 and I love it. We did not get the pillow top because our previous Sterns & Foster mattress (which had a pillow-top and was only 7 years old) had grooves in it from where were slept.

We had slept at a motel that had the Beauty Rest World Class mattress and we both loved it. ---- so that was the reason we chose Beauty Rest.
