Steaming

Ugh - so I would just do a search for this but as search is currently disabled, can anyone share how much steaming costs at the moment? Wedding dress and grooms suit.

I dont think my dress is going to be a problem at all after its transatlantic trip in a suitcase, but I think his linen suit is going to be a right mess - it didnt make it from the shop too well so its got no chance in a suitcase

I just copied this from the email we had from Carolyn Allen's:

The price of the bridal gown steaming/pressing is $85, which includes a short veil and a wrap. Crinolines (slips), cathedral-length veils, additional dresses, and tuxedos/suits are $20 each.

I only had my dress and veil, so I paid $85 and they were great!

Thanks Amanda. Thats way cheaper than I expected for the adding on the suit.

No problem -- I just contacted them through their website form and they got straight back to me with a quote. Didn't really notice how much extra a suit was since I wasn't going to need that, but looked at my old emails and it was there too.....I honestly don't think it was a bad price at all, but you don't want to see the state of my dress now!

Mind if I jump in? Is it possible to book steaming a dress then cancel the day before if your dress made it to it's desination with no wrinkles?

I just found this on Carolyn Allen's website:

What is your cancellation policy for steamings?

There is no cancellation fee. We simply ask that you give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel your appointment. We often get last minute steaming requests, and we would hate to have to turn away anyone unnecessarily. When you arrive, please inspect gown to see how well it has traveled, and give us a call right away if you decide it does not need to be steamed.

So, as far as they are concerned -- yes you can cancel!
