Hi all,

I just posted this question to Theme Parks Advice and Strategies, and then suddenly realized that the Transportation forum is probably more appropriate. My apologies if it ends up here twice, as I wonder if it'll get moved.

I have a reservation for the Magic Behind Our Steam Trains tour on Wednesday, September 1. I'm staying offsite, and will have a car. The tour begins at 7:30am, and I need to be there by 7:15am to sign in.

MK doesn't open until 9am, and it is not an Extra Magic morning. If I understand correctly, I wouldn't be able to get a monorail or ferry from the TTC, as they start running only one hour before park opening.

I'd rather not take a cab if I can possibly help it, because then I'll be stuck taking a cab round-trip, as there's no shuttle to my hotel. I've seen advice on other forums suggesting that one should park at the Contemporary and walk over, but I know that's against the rules.

Is there any "legal" way to get to the MK at that hour (other than taxi) if I'm coming from offsite?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Parking at the Contemporary is legal for the tour (we did it a few years ago and parked at the Contemporary) Tell the guard you are taking the tour. He will (should) have your name on the list. He will tell you where to park. Now, you are SUPPOSED to move your car after the tour....

My husband did this as well. Have fun with the tour! It was the highlight of our trip for my hubby!

OP - glad your question got answered - but yours made ME think...we're doing the same tour a week before you on an MK-EMH morning. We're at POR - we will be able to catch a bus from there to the TTC or right to the MK early enough to check in there by 7:15 a.m., right? Or should we be thinking of a cab?

There are WDW busses running starting around 6:30 AM for the breakfasts, and tours. Be at the bus stop at 6:30. You may get to the MK early, but if you just missed the bus, you will need to wait 20-30 minutes forthe next one.

Also, I'm pretty sure the resort monorail starts at 7am, so if you get to the TTC before 7am and are waiting at the platform, you should have no trouble getting to the MK by 7:15 am.

If you are nervous about the TTC platform not opening by 7am, then walk over to the Poly from the TTC and be waiting on the monorail there by 7am.

Great tips, thanks, you guys! We're also doing the Richard Petty Driving Experience on this trip, and were focused on getting THERE by 7:30 a.m. (MK parking lot - the track is accessed via the TTC and a RP-marked van) on one of our days, but I totally forgot to also work out the details for our Steam Train tour morning...!

We'll be out at the POR bus stop by 6:20/6:30 a.m. on both days and I'm sure things will work out just fine, with all these options. (We're used to dealing with buses/public transportation, so this is doable for us...)

:thanks:

The bus goes to the MK, so you will need to take the Resort Monorail to the TTC for Petty, unless you can talk the bus driver into taking you there.
