Steam Mop Question

I have a question about steam mops. Actually, a couple of questions. My MIL has tile floors that are textured and a bit on the rough side. She's interested in the steam mops, but is afraid it will chew up the mop head. She's unable to use regular mops b/c the tile destroys the mop and leaves little pieces everywhere. Does anyone have any experience with tile like this? How did the steam mop do?

My other question is regarding the carpet glider that comes with certain models. Does it just 'refresh' the carpet, or does it actually clean the carpet? I've got a Bissell carpet cleaner that is a real beast to handle and of course the carpet is left fairly damp when I'm done. But if the steam mop cleans the miscellaneous spots and traffic kind of dirt, I would be very happy. :goodvibes

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Happy New Year!

It works great on the textured tiles. It takes a little to get the hang of it but then once you do it works great! I love that it uses no chemicals at all. The floors look great and no black socks! The floors also seem to stay cleaner longer. As for the carpet part. It cleans up surface dirt on them but will not deep clean them. We don't really have much in the way of rugs so it works fine for us. I think it is a great product.

Thanks for the info! Their tile is kind of rough, is yours?

Surface dirt on the carpet is more what I"m concerned about. If I can just run it over the random spots that turn up, or maybe lighten up some of the traffic areas, would be terrific!

Thanks again!
Happy new year!

I hate my shark steam mop! I think it was the biggest waste of my money. My floors are still not completely clean after using it.My favorite all time floor cleaner was the Hoover floor mate. But I think it was dc'd and I can't find the filters or cleaning solution anymore

I have the Bissell Green Tea and I like it. I actually packed it up to return once, but then unpacked it when I decided that the cleaning lady didn't really do much better scrubbing with a mop/bucket/hands/knees (what I was trying to avoid).

It does take a long time to heat up, but once it is hot, it does a nice job--especially on stuck on gunk (and even crayon markings). I do have to sweep really well and there are just some spots I have to hit with a sponge because the "head" just doesn't get in there (like in the corner under the cupboard).

I like the fact that it leaves a nice scent behind (which I think is from the filter) even though it is just water.
