Stealing in Parks?

It's never ok to steal. Besides, if someone can afford to go to Disney, I don't think there in such dire straits that they to need to steal a knock off Vera Bradley bag

Of course, it's never okay to steal. Does my post seem to imply that it is okay? :confused3

I just choose to focus on my family and relationships at Disney, not replaceable objects.

No, people just like to knit pick on this site....people have way to much time on there hands nowadays

Does anyone lock their stroller up before going on a ride?

You can't lock it to anything, if that's what you mean. CMs need to be able to move them, but I think there are locks that can lock the back wheels together that I think are OK to use.

so I have had my stroller stolen at Disney, the magic kingdom park in Paris, not Florida obviously, but it happened, I felt physically ill & I had to carry my 5 mth old in my arms all the way back to london on the train etc. since then I have always padlocked my stroller when in a uk theme park & on a repeat trip to Disneyland Paris. I am very aware that next August in wdw I won't be able to padlock it as the CMs have to corral them or they need to be moved occasionally, so yes I'm worried.
we have bought a cheapy umbrella style stroller for travel purposes & I'm sure we will take this one to wdw with us instead of the nicer one.
I used to leave all sorts of possessions in them, I was the "I'm in a Disney bubble" kind of traveller & I've woken up big time.
so yes it happens sadly, lesson learnt. grateful I only lost the stroller & nothing else as had it all with me while riding the railroad. still amazes me how they can effectively steal from a baby but there you go :-(

Here is my thinking... I try not to bring much into the park that would be an issue to lose. Obviously I have my cell phone and ID, stuff like that, but I don't carry anything of real value except maybe my camera (which really isn't that awesome of a camera). I also make sure I have separated my cash so it is not all in one place (a bit in my bag, a bit in a pocket, and a bit given to my travel companion).

Now, IF I had a stroller (which I don't but still), I would leave nothing of value in it while I was gone. I would also not use an expensive stroller. Not worth the risk.

Nw on the flip side my sister in law left their entire belongings n the tipoff their Disney rental stroller. Wallet, iPhone, sometimes camera..and for three days ever stolen.

N that I am recommending it lol when asked why she said, well other people were doing it. Um no ost people remove their expensive things and things you need to fly like their ID first lol. We didn't have an issue last year luckily..rented stroller, lots of stuff underneath....nothing valuable but if my kids autograph book or pressed pennies were stolen shed be sad. I think in November I will bring those with us!

Only thing I've had stolen was a french fry by a squirrel.

Oh I didn't realize that was a rule. Thanks for the info!

Watch out for your balloon you use to mark your stroller. Some thieves will steal your balloon. And you can't have balloons at AK.

Take clean diaper, poor some Root beer or cola on it put a half a peeled banana inside it and roll it up like a used diaper give it a squish , put that into a clear small trash bag like the ones inside the waste baskets in hotel bathrooms and tie it hanging off the handle bars, you are the only ones that will know that it is not filled with poop, if someone still takes it then any other marking is not going to stop them Humm I wonder if that would work with a ECV or wheel chair and an adult diaper :rotfl2: good luck goofydad

LOVE IT!!!! Thanks for the laugh!

I would never use a stroller lock at Disney. Those poor stroller wrangler CMs have to deal with 99 million strollers a day, and most do it with good humor and a smile. Why make it harder for them to do their job when the risk of getting a stroller stolen is so low?

Because we are renting our stroller, should we use something to "mark" it and make it more visible to us? Any recommendations?

at TARGET and stores like that they sell battery powered light sets..we go at christmas time so we have a couple sets wraped around our stroller..

i use a BIKE lock to lock my stroller wheels before every ride...so if you want to move my stroller ytoull have to carry it...:thumbsup2

A theif was recently caught on camera near Splash Mountain, be careful people.

I use a stroller cable lock looped through the back wheel and connected to the frame. The CM's can still move the stroller, and it isn't that difficult to move it with only one wheel locked when it's empty with no kid in it, I've tried it myself to be sure. But you definitely couldn't walk a long distance with it or put anything heavy in it like a kid and then walk, with one wheel not turning it would be way too difficult. Hopefully that is enough to keep someone from just simply walking off with the stroller either by mistake or otherwise. There is no way a rental stroller would be comfortable enough for my 10 month old to nap in so I'm not taking any chances with my nice comfy stroller. It's not an expensive stroller, but it is soft and reclines and has darkening shades over the canopy.

I also loop a stroller cable lock through my diaper bag and lock that to the frame. I only keep clothes, diapers and baby food in it but without it our day in the park would be ruined. If I had to miss a fastpass or ADR because of going to the baby care center for baby food or having to go all the way back to the hotel for clothes I would be ticked!

my expensive stuff like cell phone and camera I carry with me at all times. Our city zoo is awesome and we go there all the time, but they have a big problem with theft of strollers and belongings. This is why I have my stroller outfitted with locks and such. I have to the leave stroller behind when we ride the little zoo train and for some of the exhibits and I don't want to have to worry too much. those little cable locks wouldn't be too hard to cut with the right tool, but hopefully people walking by would notice someone cutting a lock off and get security before they got too far, I know I would!

That's is the type of lock I bought. It's retractable and goes through the wheels. I'll do whatever it takes to not be in a situation where I have to carry my 34lb. 2 year old through wdw because some jack hole stole my stroller.

People are stealing electric (in a way) when they plug in their phones and laptops at the parks.
