Steakhouse 55 With a Kid?

Headed to the Disneyland Hotel this weekend and still trying to make dinner plans. Would it be crazy to attempt Steakhouse 55 with an almost 4 year old? It’s my mom’s birthday and I’d like to try a nicer meal (not Goofy’s kitchen). Would have loved a causal dinner at Trader Sam’s on the patio (the atmosphere would have been really nice and it would definitely be easier with a young one) but they aren’t really serving much food right now.

Alternatively I could try to snag a reservation at Naples.... there is nothing available right now. Maybe that is the wiser choice? Does anyone know if they will deliver a Disney birthday cake to Naples?

Kids are definitely welcome at SH55. We dined there with ours when they were pretty little and they were very well taken care of. I would definitely not worry about taking a well behaved child there.

My girl has been going to Disney restaurants like the Blue Bayou and Carthay Circle since she was 2 1/2. I would not have hesitated to take her to S55, but I was always ready to ditch my meal if she acted up. Sometimes kids are going to be kids. But it does take a certain amount of mental energy and a lot of consideration for others to make sure a kid doesn't act up during a nice meal.

Our two always did fine at S55, breakfast or dinner. Oldest, remember Mr. Picky?, because he didn't each much (we usually brought in a little lunch box for him, then let him share off our plates), did fine as long as we didn't dawdle. Youngest loved food, off his plate and ours (lol!), so S55 was a winner every time. One issue with youngest was making sure to allow plenty of time before our reservation so that he could investigate the cartoon room (p.l.e.n.t.y of time!) and the Autopia car -- otherwise, it was pretty challenging getting him to our table when we were called. If your son is a runner or wanderer or super fidgety, you can ask for a booth and put him between you and your mom.
Another option might be the Jazz Kitchen. The balcony and patio are fun for people watching. And the bananas foster dessert still amuses the kids! The kids liked La Brea Bakery sit down, too, especially if the table had a view of the tram and the fountain. That is much more casual than S55, but you know how kids are about trams and fountains!

I was alone at Qdoba this week while dh got a haircut. My kids have special needs. Kiddo 4 was totally dysregulated. (Usually sits next to dh in a booth.) I had to put in a high chair! And then feed. Poor kiddo. So, if all else fails get a high chair. Lol
