We are staying at the Holiday Inn & Suites Anaheim at 1240 South Walnut Street, close to Disneyland.

Does anyone know if the area is safe to walk from the parks back to the hotel at night?

DD and I are going to DLR next week by ourselves. My dad, who is FREAKISHLY OBSESSIVE about my and DD's safety, said there's so many people in the neighborhood no matter what the time, that it is pretty darn safe, and he didn't even ask me to carry my mace! LOL

I'm not "worried" about it. I'll take some general safety precautions (watch where I'm going, walk like I belong there, be aware of my surroundings, hop into *any* hotel lobby if something feels "off"), but other than that, I'm not too concerned!

It's not bad.

When you walk to the parks go south on Walnut St. and make a left into DLR on Magic Way. You can go strait and cross Disneyland drive if you want to walk the whole way, or make a left at the gap in the bushes into a walking area in the parking lot to the Trams. Using the Trams will probably not save time, but save some steps. Doing this you only walk on the public streets for about 150 yards and the rest inside the resort. I wouldn't worry.

We just stayed there last week, and it was fine. :)
It is a different walk than the walk to a hotel on Harbor or even Clementine. Once you get on walnut, one side of the street is the parking garage, and the other side of the street is residential. But I never felt unsafe. There were other tourists walking ahead of and behind us every time we made the trek, so it wasn't like being totally alone. I never found a place to cut over to the trams- you would actually have to walk out of your way- so we cut through the Disneyland Hotel into Downtown Disney. :) Gave me a nice "Work a little harder and maybe someday YOU can stay here" feeling.
On my endomondo walking app on my phone, it was .69 miles from the hotel to the Monorail station, 1.15 to the turnstiles.
If that is too far, you could always take the ART.
