I can't get into the DVC Members' website until my contract clears, but I'm interested in some info that's probably on there.

If I don't have any points available, but still need to get 'home', I understand there are DVC rates on rooms - either at DVC resorts, or at other resorts. What kind of rates do they offer DVC members for these? Are they the same code rates available to DisneyVisa members, or AAA members, or are there 'special' rates available? Or, maybe it's better to rent points from another member? :confused3

What other benes or perks are there for members? Like I said - until I can get to the website, or get other info from Disney, I have to rely on others. :grouphug:

A DVC discount is not always available, but I think it's 25% off rack rate, and it's only on DVC villas.

Are you from Cincinnati? We're south of Dayton! Which resort did you buy into?

No, I'm not from Cincinnati. It seems there are several cities that consider themselves a "Queen City." I'm outside Buffalo, and Buffalo is a "Queen City."

We're buying points at Saratoga :woohoo: , simply because the contract term has several more years on it - more value. Plus, it's close to DD; and my wife liked it the most of all the DVC resorts. Hey - we'll be old before the contract is up  , but my kids would use it.

The concern at this point is that we're planning to use all of our points (current year and borrowed) for trips in January and June, next year. Then we want to go again the following June, but won't have any points available. So, I'm looking into options.

It is 25% off rack rate at DVC villas, when the discount is available. (I don't know exactly what governs when it is and isn't available.)

I think your cheapest option would be to rent points for the Sun-Thu nights you want to stay and purchase weekend nights at the discount if it's available.

Another option would be to buy a larger contract :rotfl:

Would doing a point transfer in be his best option. If it was a large one wheelcap could bank some and avoid this problem the year after next?

As noted above your best options are to check to see if the 25% discount is available then compare that to a point transfer. I think the transfer will work out to less. If you plan on staying the weekend you could do a combination of both.
