I have read threads saying that sometimes if you mix cash nights with points nights you could be moved. As my DS has loads of equipment what do you think the chances are of them allowing us to stay in the same accomodation for the fornight rather than move out for the 2 cash nights. If we there was a chance of them moving us I would borrow points from next year but would rather keep these. any advice re this before I book would be great

As long as the cash nights are reserved thru MS, the entire stay will be linked together and you will not have to move.

If the cash nights are reserved thru CRO, there is a possibility you would have to move. I'd just book the entire stay thru MS and then you won't have to worry about it at all.

Oh thanks feel heeps better knowing that . I couldn't have coped with the thought of moving all our stuff plus all the specialist equipment. looks like if I do it this way I can save on points and therefore we can get to VB. :) E

what do you think our chances are of getting at disabled room at VB on points at the 7 month window for next july.

I'd say close to 100% if you book at 7 months out and can take an Inn Room. July is not as busy as some other times of the year and other than the Beach Houses and Xmas to Easter, VB is pretty easy. July will be the next busiest time (esp the 2 weeks that the 4th tends to fall on) but there is a huge difference in demand compared to Xmas, Presidents week, March and April especially.

Just to add slightly to Doc's information. IF you book through MS for all your nights (cash and/or points) AND it's the same exact unit type, you will not have to move. If you end up with different unit types such as a lockoff vs a dedicated 2 BR, there's a great chance you'd have to move. If you had a 1 BR or studio part of the time and then a 2 BR lockoff for a portion, you might or might not have to move. However, you still would have to do a second check in in many of these situations. I've trucked up to the front desk at 6 am several times to get new keys and do a second checkin. Though in all the times I have had to do this it was for different unit sizes even though we were able to stay in the same unit we were in, just open or close the lockoff.

And if you book part through CRO and plan ahead, there's still a good chance you'd not have to move but I'm pretty certain you have to do a second check in for this situation.

It would be a 2br room with disabled facilites being a must and it would be around about the 13th. do you think that would make a difference?

bit confused here about your middle paragraph (no jokes please :) ) it would be a 2 br with full diabled facilities. Again do you think this would make a difference about moving us.

do you always have to check - in and out early :(
NO, check in is 4 pm. But it tends to get crowded then and it is my feeling your chances of having to change rooms are less if you go early in this situation.

It would make a difference. HA rooms are booked directly. So if you get it, you would almost certainly not have to change rooms. If you didn't get it, you would know up front but if you do get it I think the chances of moving in this circumstance is almost nil. I don't know how many HA 2 BR units there are, maybe Doc or someone else would know. The real question is whether you'd get the unit at all at 7 months out. Your other option would be to do a private trade with another member where they booked you at 11 months out and in turn, you booked them something during your home resort window. And given past discounts for summer at VB, you might even check into CRO reservations and consider saving all your points for something at WDW.
