Need one night off site at Universal. Best recommendation for one night? thanks

We like Doubletree Universal, it's a short walk to the park and the price is reasonable.

Hyatt Place Universal is right near the Doubletree. It is very nice and reasonable also.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites nearest Universal Orlando. I posted this before and I'll repost it here for you:

" It was a nice, newer hotel and it did end up being only about a 1/2 mile away from Universal. There was a shuttle to the parks.

The hotel is nice, but the pool is pretty small. They had quite a few tables for their little buffet in the AM which consisted of scrambled eggs, biscuits, gravy, muffins, danish, warm cinnamon rolls, bagels, yogurt, cold cereal. Coffee, tea, oj, and apple juice. Of course it was nothing to write home about, but it was free and convenient.

The room was it little on the small side, and provided just the basics. No bathtubs just a huge walk in shower. The bathroom also had one of those pocket doors instead of a real bathroom door, which I thought was strange, but I guess its to save room. All in all, if you are looking for a cheap place to stay and don't mind a small room, I would say its a good choice. Just make sure you drive down the road to make sure you are staying at the Express Suites, not the older Holiday Inn directly across from the park, that one looks rundown from the outside.

Love this question, as planning to stay 2 nights at HRH and get 3 days FOTL access, and anothe 3 nights off site. Just can't afford all 5 nights on site!

Super advice, everyone thank you! I feel like this vacation is something out of planes, trains and automobiles. I am staying at Disney YC for 5 nights, then moving to AKL for 2 nights, then Universal hotel for 2 nights then off site for 1 night! I will be broke at this point, so one of these low cost options will be perfect. Thanks again!:thumbsup2

Tizzy did you have to pay for parking at Holiday Inn and THANK YOU for the tip on there being 2!!!! Thanks for the link...

While we have not stayed at the Hyatt Place Universal, we are fans of the hotel chain, matter of fact DS asks why other hotels do not have the sectional couch and 42" flat screen. The breakfast they offer is very nice, but no hot waffles if you prefer them. Rooms are very spacious and so far we have yet to get a bad bed.

No, parking was free. We also made the mistake of pulling into the first Holiday Inn we saw, but I reminded DH ours was a newer one. I forgot to add, that they also have computers in the lobby to use for free. Great for us when we were here scouting out places to live and we needed Mapquest.

This really is a nice hotel. I would definitely stay there again, if I didn't love my FOTL so much. :thumbsup2

Thanks Tizzy! I just booked there! :) I am doing two nights on property - do you think this will work? On my morning I am due to check out at Royal Pacific, leave my car at royal pacific - go to the park, etc. when done with park pickup car at Royal Pacific. Won't be a problem to keep it parked at RP the day I check out do you think?

We left our car in the lot until 6 pm the day of check out. They also stored our luggage while we went to the parks.

Not a problem at all. We checked out at 10 AM and left our car in the lot until 6PM after check out. Hope you like the hotel. ;)
