Staying on the boat

Has anyone ever stayed on the boat while docked? I don't have a ton of interest in getting out and about in Nassau, and I'm curious if there would be things to do on the ship during that time. We've never been on a cruise before, so everything is new to us. Thanks!

Certainly, many people have stayed onboard while in port. There are activities. Most ports not as much as, say, a sea day, but Nassau day does seem to have quite a bit to do.

You can get an idea of what sorts of activities are available onboard by checking past Navigators here: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/personal-navigators/

Thank you! I just wanted to make sure we wouldn't regret not spending more money on an excursion.

In my experience, a LOT of people stay on the ship in Nassau. People try to bill it as an "empty ship" but it is far from empty.

I agree with Shmoo that there will not be as many activities as on a sea day - particularly in the morning when most of the excursions are gone, but there is always Midship Detective.

We usually stay on the ship when in Nassau. I spend most of the time by the adult pool, but I have also found that is a good day to visit the spa.

Agree with this on both counts. But you better get your chair at the adult pool early!

One thing that you will not be able to do while the ship in port is shop - all stores on the ship are closed until after you leave port.

If you have children and swimming is important, I would recommend looking at prior Personal Navigators to find out when the pools will be open.

When we were in Tortola last month we didn't plan an excursion and thought we'd enjoy time at the pool instead. We were surprised when we got to Deck 11 that the Donald pool was still netted and the AquaDuck was closed too. Found out after checking our Navigator app that the Donald pool wasn't opening until 11am and the AquaDuck until noon that day.

We did a quick change and enjoyed an hour or so in the shops of Tortola before returning to the ship. By then the Donald pool was close to opening and we were the first riders of the AquaDuck that day when it opened at noon!

We stayed on board on our last cruise at Grand Cayman. We've been there twice before and done/seen everything we want to. Not interested in beaches or shopping. It was a very nice day. We lounged, watched a movie, played midship detective game, ate, lounged, sat on deck looking out at the water and had ice cream, lounged, had a snack, did Aqua Duck, lounged some more. Best trip to Grand Cayman ever!

Thanks! I love hearing all of the different ways to spend the day! We can't wait!
