Staying on Disney property, how to get to Universal?

I'm sure this answer is in here somewhere but I'm asking this for a friend. She's staying at a Disney resort and will be taking 1 day to go to Harry Potter World.

What do you think is the best choice? Rental car? Cab? Is there any transport from DTD that she could take?

We have always driven so we never have to worry about having a car

A 1-day (24 hour) car rental will nearly always be cheaper. Mears does offer shared van service from Disney hotels. But the price is per person so the more people you have, the more it costs.

When factoring your cost of the car rental, remember the cost to park the car at Universal.
