We are DVC members who will be staying for cash at the Poly. Will we get daily housekeeping? Trying to decide whether to pack shampoo, and loving that this is all I need to worry about right now. :)

No, you won't it follows the same Trash and Towel service that we experience on points. I was disappointed. We needed additional soap and dishwasher soap and was given them.

The answer is NO, if you are using your DVC cash discount. The answer is YES if you booked with CRO.

Is this a policy change? In 2013 Cash and Points were on different schedules.

Sorry...not familiar with CRO. What does that mean?

We booked through the generic Disney booking on the generic Disney website, not through Member Services, if that helps.

Central Reservations Office = CRO

That is the generic Disney website that you refer to. :) And you will get daily housekeeping since that is how you booked.

I hadn't heard of this rule before (but I am just a novice at all this still).

When we stayed at AKV earlier this year on cash (with the DVC discount), we initially did not get daily housekeeping but when I inquired, it was provided. The front desk was very apologetic, and the housekeeping manager called us personally and was also very apologetic. They both said that because we came up as DVC members, we were put on the DVC schedule but they seemed to agree we should get daily housekeeping because we were paying cash. Anyway, maybe your results will vary. I was very impressed at the prompt and courteous response in any event.

The manager was incorrect.

Paying cash thru DVC places the stay under the DVC housekeeping schedule. No daily service.

We ran into a similar situation at Poly. We were staying on a DVC discount price. It was the first time we used the DVC discount for a cash reservation. We previously stayed at DVC resorts (such as OKW) but paid cash through CRO. I assumed we were to receive housekeeping services.

When housekeeping didn't come the first day to replace our towels, I called them. They apologized and said we were supposed to get housekeeping. They brought up fresh towels and assured us we would receive housekeeping for the rest of the trip.

Day 2 - still no housekeeping. I called the front desk and they again apologized and assured me they were coming. This scenario continued for 3 days. No one ever told me that because we booked DVC discount we weren't supposed to have housekeeping. I was so confused about what was happening and disappointed in the customer service at Poly.

After I did a little digging, I discovered I was demanding a service that I was not entitled to! Why didn't anyone from Poly explain this to me? I felt they like didn't know what they were doing. Certainly I couldn't have been the first customer staying at the Poly on a DVC discount? The way they treated me and their lack of knowledge soured me to staying there in the future. Even though I was in the wrong, they should have known I was in the wrong and explained the policy to me. They clearly didn't know what they were doing.

At least now I know what the rules are:)

None of us can answer with any certainty but they obvious answer is that the specific people you spoke with were not aware of the policy. You may not have been the first person staying at Poly on a DVC cash discount but you may have been the first person to call and complain to the specific CMs you reached.

Most resort phone calls are fielded by an off-site call center. CMs working those phone often aren't in touch with every resort policy and procedure. Their job is (primarily) to be polite and understanding, and forward the inquiry on to the department best equipped to resolve.

The DVC cash discount is a little obscure. I'm not even sure if the full policies and conditions are spelled out on the website. Typically DVC CMs would explain the policy in detail when a reservation is made.

There's a card in the bathroom on the towel rack that explains the policy. I was reading it when I was at BWV a couple of weeks ago. It says members points or member cash discount gets the limited schedule. The reason I read it was because it was confusing before, it said if you are not a member you get full housekeeping. I could see renters saying "I'm not a member".
