Staying offsite with a washer and dryer

Last year when we stayed off-site, I took a suitcase filled with house stuff. Dish soap, garbage bags, laundry det. etc only to find out that the house had a lot of the stuff I brought. So this year, I didn't take anything. I just made a shopping list, checked out what the house had and supplemented from there. It was much easier and believe it or not cheaper because I didn't have duplicates. I left behind some starter materials for the next person, but it was easier than transporting all of that stuff. This is what we did on our last trip to when we stayed off-site at a villa rental. We went to the house first to see if anything was left from the last guests and then made a shopping list. We ended up buying fabric softner, but the house already had detergent.

** On another note, I have packed powdered laundry detergent before in my checked luggage when we used to travel to Hawaii. Generall in ziploc bags. We never had any problems. **
