Staying offsite....meal planning....Schwans?

Hello! We will soon be at WBC for 9 nights and I want to eat some meals "at home". I have done grocery delivery before. We were thinking of stopping at Walmart on our way (rental car)...but we don't arrive until after 8pm. I was thinking of ordering from Schwans to make cooking really easy. Will they keep items frozen until we arrive that day? I'm guessing they will since they did when we had We go Shop.

I'd guess they will, but you can also try the local Publix grocery store.

Did n't know you could get schwans to deliver there.....interesting...I was just thinking about posting something about planning meals..as I didn't see any posts......we are also staying a WBC and would like to do as many meals as possible in the hotel. I was thinking of planning easy meals for each day, maybe have a cookout for some meals, and ordering delivery from the local grocery store ( anyone have experience with this??)

We didn't do much cooking the first time we stayed at WBC. I didn't know they had grills that time. We had snacks and breakfast foods. This time, we will be cooking on the grills some nights. I can throw steak, chicken, burgers, etc on and be done in 15 minutes. The cost is a ton cheaper. I can even buy the meat before I go down and put it in a cooler. Much cheaper.

If you take a crockkpot, you can have meals cook while you are out. There are also a lot of restaurants not too far away that a family can eat at for the price of 1 Disney meal.

We stay at Bonnet Creek when we go to Disney. I usually do a Walmart run when we arrive...the one on 535. I usually buy

Fried Chicken...good served room temp for either lunch or dinner. Kids also like to bring to parks in ziploc for snack/lunch.

Chicken

Deli Roast Beef with some Cheese and rolls...onions and pepper. I use this for steak and cheese subs for a quick dinner. Only takes five min to fry up in frying pan and melt cheese over it. My kids love this.

Perdue Short Cuts, romaine lettuce, shredded park and Cesear dressing. Quick lunch or dinner. I serve with Italian or French Bread

We have also gone to Publix and gotten some really nice steaks to grill by the pool. With that and a bagged salad and some bread and cheese we have a yummy dinner poolside with drink in hand.

We are looking at Garden Grocer, Schwans and We Go Shop - how has your experience been with We Go Shop and Schwans? I just hate the idea of grocery shopping when we could be hanging out in the pool!

Time of arrival won't affect a visit to WalMart if that is the way you want to go. Pretty much all the area Wally Worlds are open 24 hours.

I CAN'T WAIT to do this !!! I intended to finalize my grocery list on the plane. We arrive a day early (Friday) before check-in. So, I plan to send my list to Walmart early Saturday morning with a 1pm pick-up time. I figure we will be at our resort by 10am to check-in even if they don't have rooms assisgned. The earlier you are, the better chances of getting your building/room requests honored. Usually I check-in at 9am and go to breakfast. We usually have a room and keys by noon, so a 1pm pickup is perfect.

Speaking of Crockpots.....One year I bought a crockpot from the clearance rack at Walmart while I was there. It was a nice size and was on Clearance for less than $20. It was worth every dollar!!! It saved me money by using it instead of having to dine-out and order-out every meal. I made Sloppy Joes....BBQ/pulled Chicken. My son roasted a pack of hotdogs in the crockpot. Just dumped a pack of hot dogs and added about 1/4 cup of water. He put it on high and went down to the pool for about an hour. They came out like they were roasted instead of being boiled. I was SHOCKED how good they tasted. I ended up leaving the crockpot because I couldn't carry it on the plane. But for less than $20 it was worth it.

Thanks for the reminder.....I forgot about Publix pre-made meals!!! I don't know anything about Schwan's so I can't advise the OP on that. But I will agree with your that Publix will be a good option since they have a rental car.
