I have some friends who are staying offsite, and I realize parking is $9.00 at parks each day, but I thought I read somewhere that you can park at Downtown Disney, or the waterparks for free. Is this correct?

Yes. Parking at Downtown Disny is free. It is 9.00/day to park at a theme park parking lot.

There are no direct buses from Downtown Disney to any theme park. You would have to transfer at a resort.

My opinion is if you are paing for Hotel, Rental Car, Flight, Park Tickets, Meals and Souvenir's, What's another $9.00

Oh boy, this could be fun. If you just want to go to DTD, parking is free. Because people were parking at DTD and taking busses to the parks to avoid the parking fee, busses no longer run from DTD to the parks.

At least some people are going to read you post and assume you are trying to scam Disney out of $9 and tell you what a bad idea this is. Get your flame coat on.

If your implying I'm a cheapskate - think again! I have plans to visit Disney this summer and stay onsite to utilize the bus system, BUT my friends are inquiring and I noticed the information on wdwig.com, so why accuse me of starting a fire. A question is a question and that's what this boards purpose is. It is to help others in their planning. So excuse me if you were offended Salmoneaous.

Calm down, nobody accused you of anything - except maybe posting a question that is HISTORICALLY subject to 'flame' responses.
Actually, salmoneous was being friendly and simply trying to alert you to put on your flame-proof outerwear because of the replies your post might get.

Your right - I got excited, but I think it was legitimate question that shouldn't be subject to flaming. My apologies to you salmoneous!

Sometimes it is helpful for fairly new posters to do a search before they post a question. People were trying to help with the answer.

Yes it is free to go to DOWNTOWN DISNEY not to the PARKS is that answering the question. to go to the parks it is 9.00. Soon it will cost to park at DTD it is already enough of a pain to find a spot there, maybe it would be worth it to pay and reimburse with purchase.

In other words, yes, your off-site friends can park at DTD for free. But, they had best plan on a bunch of extra time getting to a park. The DTD buses are notoriously slow...I always seem to spend more than average amounts of time waiting for my resort bus there. And then it has to make the other DTD stop. Then, the drive to the resort. Then get off that bus, and wait for the next park bus. I would think it would just be simpler to park at the park...as well as faster. But, you can park there free.

What time do DTD busses start running in the morning? I don't think the stores open until 10:00.

I was going to post that the other problem with this is that the buses do NOT start until the stores open. So prime park time will be wasted. (and the first bus run is FROM the resorts DTD since there is no one there to go back so add an hour to half an hour)

I also once saw a bus driver give a family a really hard time when they were getting on the bus to one of the resorts. It was pretty evident what they were up to and while he was polite they knew they were busted!

Like a previous poster said. By the time you get a parking spot, wait for a bus to a resort, wait for another bus (or mode of transportation) to the park, you could have been there and done a few attractions by then.

Besides, are they really going to want to get on transportation to a resort, to do the same to get back to DTD to find their car and drive back?

To much hassle and time wasted for trying to save $9.

Absolutey true! I could not have said this any better.

The bus service to/from the resorts to DTD is not that frequent. It might be worth it if you were only going to the parks after lunch and were planning to end your day at DTD; DQ, Cirque, shopping or to have dinner otherwise it's not worth it.

The cheapstakes that take that route frequently walk to OKW and take a resort bus to a theme park. That's not really permitted and you wind up doing a lot of walking and wasting a lot of time just to save the few dollars. Find a parking place, walk to OKW, wait for a bus and bus tavel time will take almost an hour. MK might take you 15-20 minutes to get to the gate every other park will take 10 minutes if you just pay to park.

If you pay to park at one theme park parking lot a day, you don't have to pay to park at another during the same day. So if you park at TTC parking in the AM, you can move over to Epcot or Disney Studios in the PM for free. Just keep your receipt and show it when you get to the booth.
