Any opinions Sheraton vs Portofino? (DW has narrowed down to these)

I haven't stayed at either but have stayed at other Sheratons. I'd choose the hotel chain vs an independent. Independents are so iffy with little recourse if it's an epic fail. HoJo is a board favorite. I have friends who love the Embassy Suites as well.

We like RI maingate, others are to far. Now stay next door.
