Staying off site now that rope drop is gone?

Actually, we were specifically told that only one person in the party should try as if multiple are trying it can mess up and no one in the party will get it. This was from one of the people responsible for setting up the system.

The good news is if you don't get it first thing in the morning, there is a second chance in the afternoon. This is better than DLR soon, as soon they will add the new Spider Man ride to boarding pass and you can't hold a boarding pass for both Rise and Spider Man at the same time. This is causing us some issues for our upcoming visit.

My concern is that we will only have 3 days, with park hoppers, so we planned to be leaving HS around 2-3. Is there a better chance of getting one at 2 vs the morning? Perhaps we'd be be better off making HS our second park of the day.

Second attempt for a boarding group is at 1 PM

You must be physically present at HS or have tapped-in and left to try for the 1pm boarding groups. At this point, Hopping doesn’t begin until 2pm so those hopping to DHS do not have ability to try for a boarding group. Whether any of that situation changes by next year remains to be seen. At least for now keep it as your morning park if you really want to ride RotR.

I’ve heard that from a couple people, but I trust the many numerous reports of success. There hasn’t been a single first-hand report of a family getting locked out or other problem related to multiple users trying for a BG.

Agree with this, we were there opening week and my family (4), part of the madness getting to HS at 5am. The rules were so more strict back then. We all used our own accounts. We were successful both days we tried. Once a person gets a BG for everyone, everyone else gets locked out from getting another group That’s the way it’s suppose to work.

Once you arrive at your rental home check and see how good the Wifi is. We had family rent a house near Disney and the Wifi wasn’t very good.
Options may be:
Check with your phone carrier and see if you can add a temporary plan for Wifi use while in the US. We were able to do the opposite when we visited Canada
Or
to drive to a nearby McDonald’s restaurant and use their Wifi

Yes true. So much could change. I'm wondering how it will. I wonder have any run into the problem of not being able to hop to a different park because it was full? Or if that will even be an issue next year with increased capacity.

Kinda stressful trying to plan a trip this time around with so many unknowns. I would have waited and booked later, but a) the rental house we wanted only had one week left and b ) we wanted to book the package now so we could take advantage of the stronger dollar.

I feel like maybe we'd be better off to just plan one park per day.

we’ll be there in 2 weeks. Precovid rules, we’d be done with some parks by 10am, hop to another then out by lunch. I’m planning as it’s the winter holiday time when a park can be closed for capacity at anytime and plans seem to change by the hour. Just make a plan and have a back up. If all goes south, your in Disney enjoy, check the app, find a ride with low wait times and go do something you typically don’t do. We found so many thing we like this way.

If it is that important to ride Rise, I would shoot for the first time that day. Then if you don't get it, don't park hop that day and shoot for the second chance. Although for use we got the second chance on our last trip and our boarding group was called at around 2 PM, so you might get lucky that way too.

There is one report, it was us, we got locked out on our second day at Hollywood Studios. Our first days attempt we had an issue with an alarm and only one of us woke up and had zero issues, the second day we were all trying and couldn't do it. We were told this before the second attempt that day, so only one tried and it worked effortlessly as before.

I love T-Mobile, with our plan data is included in about 50+ countries. A fair amount at 5G speeds too.
