Hello everyone,

I have been planning a trip to WDW for a while but I'm on a very limited budget, so I decided to stay off property and use public transportation to get around. I'm not staying at a hotel but at friend's house, so there's no shuttles to take me around, just Lynx buses.

My question is, can people staying off property use Disney transportation?

I've been doing a little research about this today but I've found completely different answers, some saying only resort guests can use the buses and boats and others saying that by purchasing park tickets, you can use them.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can use the transportation if you are just day guests to a theme park, you don't have to be staying onsite.

The Official rule is that you must be a resort guest, some locations (i.e. Blizzard Beach) even have signs telling you to present your key to the world card when boarding the bus.

But in reality they are never checked as Disney wants to get you around property to try to get you to spend more money.

I hope you know that the Lynx buses do not go to the park entrances. They go to the Ticket and Transportation Center. You will have to take a monorail, boat or a Disney bus to get to the park you want to visit.

There is also transportation via Lynx to the Downtown Disney area, but there is no transportation from DtD to any of the parks.

Using public transportation can be very time-consuming. You may need to transfer buses at some point and which can make getting to and from the parks very cumbersome. If you only have a little time to be in Orlando, you may not want to be spending hours on buses or waiting at bus stops.

Check the Lynx website to see what your bus schedules and routes will look like. http://www.golynx.com/

FAQs on the Disney site specifically say you do not have to be a guest to use Disney transportation. Saw it today when I was looking for different information.

When they say "the Walt Disney World Resort", they are referring to all the theme parks, water parks and any of the onsite hotels.

So day guests (park visitors not staying a WDW hotel) are included as a "resort guest".

So, to make a short story long :rotfl: yes, OP, you can use Disney transportation. :)

Sorry if this is considered bringing a topic back from the dead, but I've been investigating about off site transportation options again.

Sadly, we can't rent a car because of our low budget, do you guys think we can use Lynx buses to get to Disney property and use DTD as a hub to get us to different resort areas and transfer to park buses?

I know there's a Lynx bus that's drops you off at the ticketing center, so i guess MK and Epcot are solved...

Thanks again, guys!

You don't want to rent a car? :confused3. Just asking.

I agree, a week or two out you can find deals for $10 a day. Not worth the aggravation losing time for a bus. There is. He cost of parking, but if you want to enjoy he world, spend the extra on ease of transportation make it up so where else, like packing a sandwich and snack a day instead of counter service.

There's Disney buses from the "ticketing center" (TTC) to DHS and AK. From DTD to TTC, take a Disney bus to the Polynesian and walk over to TTC (very close). Disney DTD buses don't run in the am until DTD store hours.
