This may seem like a crazy question

If I use DVC points to stay at the Beach Club Villas, at checkin is it possible to get a Regular Hotel room instead of a Studio. The reason I ask is because I will be staying by myself and I think i would feel less lonely in a regular hotel room than in the DVC section of the beach club. I was thinking about using the points at the yacht club instead, but in the off season the BCV is only 12 points a night and the yacht club is like twice as much. Any ideas or has any one else done this???? Also how close are the villas to the resort I stayed at the beach club last January and never noticed them at all.

Thanks in Advance
Peter

No, points are not interchangable between DVC units and the "attached" Disney resorts. Legally they operate completely separately and are two serarate resorts, one owned and operated by the WDW company, the other operated by DVC/DVD.

We have used points for deluxe resorts in the Disney collection. Recently the cost of our points has been a better deal than the AP codes we normally use.

You cannot just "trade" a studio for a regular hotel room. What you might consider is a studio at the BWV or just keep the studio at BCV. Both should be comfortable for a single. Good luck and enjoy.

BCV is connected to BC by a short covered walkway. The access is near the resort store. I don't think you'll feel isolated at all and you'll enjoy quite a points savings with a studio vs a YC room.

Enjoy!

I think you will be happy with BCV as a choice as a solo adult - it is not isolated and is right next door to BC and is a lovely resort

Having said that for a solo adult, I would recommend BWV over BCV due to the close proximity of the Boardwalk and associated attractions etc. - BWV feels more adult oriented

According to figures I have been able to locate, the relevant room sizes are as follows:

BCV Studio: 356 sq ft
BC/YC Standard: 380 sq ft

The Studio figure was posted on this board, while the BC/YC square footage is from posts on the Resorts board.

As others have pointed out, the villas are physically part of the BC/YC resort. The DVC wing was not part of the original construction, so it is somewhat off to the side of the rest of the resort--but still connected.

If you were standing across the lake on the Boardwalk looking at BC/YC, the Villas are all the way on the far right (closest to Epcot), and they run away from the water at almost a right angle. It's my understanding that many of the rooms on one side of the hallway have a great view of Epcot (Spaceship Earth to be specific), while those on the other side will face toward the quiet pool on the interior.

It's also worth noting that BCV is often at maximum capacity, so you'll have many neighbours during your stay.

You can use points to stay at some "regular hotel room" resorts, including the Yacht Club. But it's not a very good use of points; a standard room at YC costs more points than a 1BR suite at BCV.

However you can not use points to stay at the Beach Club; it's just not an option.
