staying in main bldg. of GF?!

I wondered how the standard rooms were in the main building of the Grand?

Anyone stay there before? How is the noise from the lobby or monorail?
I have 3 kids and would love to be closer to the monorail so they don't have far to walk coming in from the park. I just wanted to make sure they were good rooms before trying to request one

I do believe that the main building is all concierge rooms. Whether they are different than the other rooms in the other buildings, I'm not sure. We have only stayed in the outer building, forgot which one. Looking into it more it seems there are deluxe and honeymoon rooms and regular rooms in the main lodge, but they are all still concierge.
It is a dream of mine to stay in the main building of the GF! But with rack rates starting at $640 per night in value season, I'm going to have to wait awhile to do that!LOL For a weeks stay I could do a small add on on my DVC contracts!

We have stayed at the GF RPC several times in a standard room as there are only three of us and they have two queen beds and a daybed. We always requested room 4404 as the view was of the marina and of the castle. It is down a long hall way away from the lobby which is another thing that we like as it is very quite down there. There is also elevator by our room which we could use to go downstairs and out of the back of the hotel. You can also use it to go back to your room as well. As another poster stated there are deluxe rooms which are slightly bigger than the standard room. If my memory serves me correctly, I was told by the concierge that our standard room was the same size as the other standard rooms in the other buildings. Having the convenience of the monorail and/or boat is a big plus especially with small children. Sometimes the boat is much faster than the monorail but then you would have to walk to the main building. The main building books up very fast as we could not get it for our April 2008 trip. So we are staying in the Sugar Loaf. We are very disappointed that we are not in the main building as that is where we always were but we are at the GF. Definitely not complaining. Another thing to remember that a request is not guaranteed as they always state but we were always granted our request for our room.
