Staying for ONE NIGHT!

We're going on a cruise next October. We'll sail out of Port Canaveral on Sunday afternoon, but we'll drive down Saturday (will probably arrive mid-afternoon).

I'm thinking of staying at a Disney resort for just one night, having a nice dinner somewhere, and hitting Disney Quest either Saturday night or Sunday morning. Perhaps we'll do Water Mice (which my kids adore) on Saturday evening and Disney Quest Sunday morning. We want to get to the cruise ship by mid-afternoon, so we should leave Orlando around 1:00. We have no interest in doing a major park on this trip -- we're just looking for a bit of something fun to do the night before the cruise.

So . . . where would you stay for just ONE NIGHT? I'm split between the practical concept of staying in the All-Stars, which the kids would love, and which we probably wouldn't choose for a week-long stay. Or staying at Animal Kingdom or the Polynesian, where we'd have more to do right there in the hotel.

I'm very open to suggestions! What would you do? Since the cruise is already paid, and we're only talking about one night, I can afford to splurge a bit.

I'm replying to my own post!

I just realized that the Mickey's Not-so-scary Halloween party will be going on in October. This is a possibility for our family. I'm not willing to pay "full price" for a day at the parks because we will be driving most of the day, but we could make it in time for this event.

How does it compare to E-ticket night? We loved that.
What are the hours for the Halloween party?

Thanks, all!

Hours are 7-midnight! I've never been to the Halloween Party, but I can say that if it is anything like the Christmas Party, it is well worth the money!!

Hi MrsPete -

I'd splurge and stay at a deluxe since you will be making full use of the hotel. There's more things to do around a deluxe - values are limited to pools and food courts!!

As far as MNSSHP, it doesn't have Sat. nights - only Friday and Sunday. But you could also go miniature golfing, shopping @ DTD, a hayride over at Ft. Wilderness - the list is endless!!!

Hope this helps!!! :teeth:

I think what i would do is pick one resort that you really have wanted to experience, but haven't yet. One night is enough to sample the resort. For me, I would probably choose WL. I haven't been yet and I'm curious to see it and see how it compares to CR tower. Good Luck!

We are going to be on this Sat's cruise, we are staying one night (Friday)at the CR and going to MNSSHP. We only bought tickets to the party and not for the park that day. We were also able to reduce the room rate when the fall discount codes came out to $184 wing after taxes. This way we can walk to the party if we do not want to fight the monorail crowds.

Traveln' Tigger -- I'm disappointed to hear that this party doesn't happen on Saturday nights, but we can't change our one night. The cruise definitely leaves on Sunday. Okay, cross this one off the list -- better to know than not know!

Del -- You and I are thinking alike: I want to pick a resort to "sample"-- somewhere I might not choose to stay a whole week. I have stayed at Wilderness Lodge, and it is wonderful! Animal Kingdom Lodge is a possibility; I wouldn't really want to stay there for a week because of its remote location.

AllforPooh -- The Contemporary is a good possibility. We'd have the water mice and the monorail. And my girls love Chef Mickey's.
