We have ressies at WDW from Sat through a Friday. We are thinking about leaving right after school on Friday to get a head start and so we can check in at our resort early on Saturday.

Does anyone know of a good reasonable place to stay between Atlanta and Orlando? (We live in Atlanta.) And about how far is it from either Atl or Orlando?

Thanks in advance for your tips and ideas.

I know this doesn't really answer your question, but our experience is that its best to "play it by ear" and see how far you feel like driving. There are tons of places to stop (Tifton, Valdosta, Ocala), but it really depends on how far you are able to drive that day. I know how traffic is getting out of Atlanta on a Friday, but if you get an early start, maybe stop and have dinner on the road, and the kids fall asleep, you could drive almost the whole way.

You won't have any problems finding a place off I-75. Most places are typical motels (Holiday Inn, Days Inn)...decent, but nothing to write home about. Just look for one that looks acceptable for an overnight stay. Valdosta is right before the FL border, and I'd say its about 1/2 way. Lake City is usually a good stopping point between Atl and Orlando, and you only have a few hours to drive in the am. :)

Hope this helps! :flower:

When we drive from Raleigh to WDW (about 8-9 hours) we like to stop about 2 hours away from Disney so we can be in the parks before lunchtime the second day. Works great. We stayed one night somewhere on the Atlanta to Orlando route but do not remember the town. I do remember thinkng there were not lots of choices but that was several years ago. Have a safe trip.
