Staying at VGC and parking

If we are staying at the VGC, will we be charged for parking? The whole paying for parking at a hotel thing is just a shock to me, but when I was checking out all of our options for our May trip, I saw where many hotels charge to park a vehicle in their parking lot while you stay there. Such a foreign concept to me.

There's no charge for self-parking if you're staying in the villas, though be warned that the parking lot is across the street. You can park in front and unload your bags/check in before you go and park your car. Valet parking is available and pricey ($17 I think?).

If you're a hotel guest, self parking is included in the resort fee.

When hotels are built in a densely populated area and space is limited they frequently charge for parking. You'll see that in any large metropolitan city.

And since the space around Disneyland is quite packed I can see that happening. It also prevents the locals from trying to sneak in and park for free. Like that would ever happen.

I travel frequently for business and the higher end hotels usually charge for self parking. I stayed at a Hilton in San Antonio in February, it was $10 per day.

The Swan & Dolphin charge for self-parking, I think it's $12 per day.

O.K., so I am from the sticks where we only pay for parking when we go downtown, which isn't too terribly often.

Thanks for the responses. Since we aren't really the ones with the car, but my son is, it doesn't matter to me if he has to walk across the street. He won't mind either if I have a parking pass for him and he doesn't have to pay.

You do need the room key to exit the lot. As long as the attendant is there, you can get in without the key, but one time the attendant was not there, and we needed the key to enter the parking lot as well.

Thanks for the tip, I will make sure I get an extra key for him to hang on to.
