I was wondering why on earth would i want to pay valet parking $20.00 to park my car when i can self park for $15 which is also redicuosly priced?

Just wondering what others have done and why. With valet you have tip them for dropping it off and picking up on top of the 20 right? Plus the inconvenience of having to wait for them to go get it every time. By the way we are staying at RPR if that matters. Thanks in advance

I'm going to move this over to the Universal boards. I think they will have much more info for you.

We usually valet park. It's so convenient and even though I don't like having to pay for parking, I enjoy staying onsite at US. Sometimes we just want to be a little spoiled. They are 4* hotels and still substantially cheaper than Disney equivalent (deluxe)
You could always use Mears/taxi/town car service to get there and skip the parking fee. Once you're there, you won't need a car.

I wish that was an option but we are bouncing all around. After universal we are going on a disney cruise then when we get off we are heading to disney for 2 days. But thanks for the reply :)

Because the parking lots at both HRH and RPR are so teensy that you often have difficulty finding a space. I think some people become exasperated and give in to the valet parking bit just to not have to deal with the lack of spaces. I personally hate valet parking, so one of the reasons that I'll always stay at PBH from now on is the spacious parking garage.

You said that right, that was me when I stayed at HRH, couldn't find a self park space so I gave in to Valet, I rather self park, the parking prices are way to high no matter what way you do it. This time I am staying at PBH and I liked what you said about the parking so I think I'll be happy

The valet is in and out all day for the $20 right....plus tip each time you need your car of course.

How much do you tip valet parking guy?
call me cheap but I give them $1.00 when picking the car up. Valet prices are high to begine with so if I do valet I am very frugal or cheap as some pople would say but trips are going to be coming far and few between between air prices, hotel prices, I just stay home, do things around here and enjoy my house

$3-5 on pick up. just depends what I have on me at the time. If I don't have anything smaller than a $10, I get smaller bills first.

They really are so quick with getting the cars. We call in from our room and by the time we get there, our car is waiting for us. (HRH it is.)

Oh well duh me - I never would have thought to call from our room so our car will be waiting!!

I think you'll be happy too. The garage is a bit dark and ugly, but it sure is big. There was never any question of not finding a space when I was there last August. Besides, the hotel itself is just lovely.
