Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has stayed at the cabins in Fort Wilderness during their wedding stay at Disney? My boyfriends family used to own a RV dealership, so they grew up camping, as did I. (yes boyfriend, not engaged yet, but I'm crossing my fingers!!) ;) I've stayed in the cabins several times, and thought that would be a cool place to stay with the "camping" atmosphere, but still at Disney. When we get married, the money will be tight, and I thought that would be a way to save cash, by not having to eat out every night, and even doing a "rehersal" dinner the night before at one of the cabins with everyone over. But, what I don't know is if the outside vendors could get in (like for hair, make-up, dress steaming, etc).

No wedding in the works (yet), just something I was curious about to see if someone has even done this. :cool2:

Our friends got married in 2000 and they stayed in the cabins, their parents and some family were next door and some family stayed in RV's a short walk away. It worked out great for them because when they checked in they let the front desk know that they were getting married on such and such a date and had no problems with outside vendors. My suggestion is that if you do stay there you designate someone to be the runner/check-in person at the front gate to get people if need be and bring them back to the cabin. I would talk with a CM directly at the resort before you go to confirm. I hope that someone who directly had a wedding and stayed in the cabins can help you out better than I can.

The good thing about the cabins is that for their rehearsal dinner they saved tons of money by having a picnic at their cabin. It was fun and everyone could fit in one place and most of all very inexpensive!!

Good luck!

If its what you want to do then go for it!!

Outside vendors shouldnt be a problem - just them know before hand incase any arrangements need to be made!

One of my guests was going to stay in the cabins at FW. There was no problem with getting it added to our room block. It was $211 a night (off season including the discount). It does count towards your minimum room night requirement too. If you have guests that are reserving a campsite, they do not offer the discounts for them. They will count toward you room night minimum though. I say go for it. You could always do the sing-a-long campfire and movie there for your welcome party too. (Ask princessdisneybelle about it.) Hope this info helps.

We just stayed in a FW cabin and they are pretty spacious. You would definately have room for people to get ready (ie: hair/makeup, etc) and stay in. The deck is of good size and could fit a picnic or party nicely. And the campfire with roasted marshmellows would be a nice way to end an event too. One additional thing that you could do is decorate you cabin and golfcart with "Just Married". Lots of people decorate their sites there, I know that we did for St Patrick's Day.

Don't forget about the Water Parade/fireworks. There are tons of chairs and tables at the marina that if you arrive early enough your party could get and everyone could mingle there with drinks and goodies.

does anyone have some pics of this area?
or do i need to go over to the resorts board.......I want to see pics of the area by the water & the cabins inside & out

thanks

Thanks all for the replies. Like I said, not yet engaged, but I definatly know I want a Disney Wedding (we both want a destination wedding with just a few guests), and I thought with the "camping" thing, it would be cool to stay in the cabins.

myprincessgirlisa - if you go to http://www.allears.net they have several photos of the inside, outside, and around fort wilderness. i've stayed there several times, and like it more and more every time I go back.
