Staying at The Beach Club for the first time - advice?

I am generally a Wilderness Lodge gal but have found a deal for Beach Club I simply could not refuse. Wilderness Lodge is my second home and I know it inside and out .. but know little about the Beach Club except what I have seen walking through the property....pool (of course) and lobby/shopping area.

It would be great to have advice from all the Beach club veterans.....room suggestions (standard view room reserved), all your favorite things to do there - dining, shopping, favorite places to watch the world go by.

I am very excited and a little afraid I will simply like it TOO MUCH!! After all, how can you go back to PO/Riverside after the Beach Club!

My only advice would be to request a room near the elevators as our room was way.. way.. down the long.. long.. hall

If you want a full balcony, then you should definitely request it as a lot of the rooms have standing room only balconies. You may also want to ask for garden view so they may not place you in front of the parking lot. These are all requests only, but you know that.

You must go here and eat!!!!
If not for sandwiches...definitely for the ice cream. My daughter and I couldn't even dare touch the "Kitchen Sink" but it was well worth the time to see it...especially being made (we sat at the bar)! We had the hot fudge brownie sundae. Sorry I forgot the name. It was unbelievable! We could barely eat it! It was the kitchen sink for us!!!

Iwould recommend going early to Beaches and Cream or you will have a wait a looooong time to get seated. Also, if you want to eat at Cape May make PS. Be sure to take your room key to the pool because they will ask you for it.

First of all you are exactly right to be afraid. The BC "raises the bar"! Here are a few suggestions:

Take full advantage of your close proximity to Epcot & MGM. Use the International Gateway entrance to just "drop-in" to England to catch a Worldshowcase Players show. Run over for Illuminations- just because you can. Walk over to MGM just to ride RnRC or ToT. Then leave. Its so close and on a good day it can be done in an hour or so (try EE day).

Wake up early and take a walk around the lake. Usually there are so few people its almost like you are the only person there. This is one of my favorite things to do.

Wake up early, grab a paper & cup of java. Head down to the lobby- then watch the place come to life. I especialy like watching all of the little ones as they wait their turn for the Goofy & Friends breakfast at Cape May.

Take a break in the middle of every day and have fun at SAB- if only for an hour. Have an adult beverage (or two) if you are so inclined from HH. Something with one of those little umbrellas always works. I promise you will love yourself for it.

Take a ride on Breatheless - the turn of the century Criss-Craft boat. It is not an inexpensive venture, but in my opinion it is better than an E-Ticket. Prepare to laugh, scream & get very wet.

Visit The Crew's Cup Lounge. I especilally like it in there when it is raining. It is so nice & cozy - big leather chairs & sofas. And the folks that work in there are very nice.

Don't miss dinner at The Yachtsman. It is our all-time favorite restaurant. Great food - great service - great atmosphere. Get a table near the window & you'll have a great view of SAB - look s especially nice at night.

Of course, B&C. Good burgers, good chicken sandwiches & fantastic onion rings. I ashamed to say in as many times as we have been going to BC I haven't had ice cream from there. My kids- different story. They say the shakes are great.

Don't miss walking by Art every morning he is there. He has a way of making you feel so special & a day shouldn't get started without a salute and happy greeting from Art.

Ditto what Cass said -- we were at the very end of the hallway. Why Disney can't put in more stairs and elevators is beyond me. Also if you want a full balcony request it. Make sure your room is not across the hall or near a cast members only area. Our first room was across and one door down from the freight elevator. It kept me up all night, we had to repack our extensive luggage and move. The front desk was really nice and accomodating about it. Be sweet to Art -- he is a treasure. We got take-out from Beaches and Creme without a long wait and ate at the little ice cream cone tables on the porch. My parents loved, loved, loved the seafood buffet. Take a leisurely walk over to MGM. Have fun, it's a great resort in an awesome location. Say hi to Stumpy the bird with one leg.

My favorite place.... is more of a time, early morning as the sun is rising seating in a chair on the beach, with my feet in the sand drinking my coffee and reading my USA Today. While watching, people out for there morning excercise and the gound crews working around SAB as I look across the lake at the Boardwalk.
As the comercial goes.......Priceless!

Now, you might want to ask, when you check-in, for the worst room available. You know, the one with worst view, the most noise, etc. This way.... maybe..... just maybe, it might stop you from liking it too much .
