Looking for the best way to get to MK for rope drop. Considering either walking or taking the monorail. Say MK officially opens at 8am (but allows guests in 45 minutes prior or so). Just wondering when the monorail starts operating and how long it takes to get to MK considering how long it takes to board the monorail etc, versus just walking (which is about 25-30 minutes).

Thx,
Dan

Will it be running again?

You may need input from GF guests to see what schedule they have currently.

Well, it’s running now I believe . Like I mentioned I’m not looking to board at the Poly. I plan to board right next door at the TTC.

like you mentioned hopefully a recent visitor at the GF or Contemporary would know when it starts running in the morning

Now I see the words Will Board at TTC in the thread title. I got caught in the word Poly. (Which I found was supposed to be open by then).

Yeah we booked with DVC before knowing the exact dates that the rest of the resort will open. Looks like both the resort and the DVC villas will be open when we arrive.

Can’t wait for our visit. It’s our first stay at the Polynesian.

For an 8:00 a.m. park opening, the monorail typically starts 30-minutes prior. When Disney was doing Extra Morning Hours (which they have since stopped doing), the monorail started 30-minutes prior to the EMH at MK. I would guess that that would still stand true when they start doing the 45-minute early entry for all resort guesses but I don't believe they announced when that was going to start.

Also, if asking for the fastest way, have you considered the boat launch from the Poly to MK main gate??

We just got back from WDW and the walk from GF to the main gate is a nice walk. It took us about 15 minutes.

If you are staying at the Polynesian and monorail resumes stopping there, I am not clear of the advantage of walking to TTC to get the monorail.

Thank you for the reply! I knew about the boats but I wasn’t sure what time they started either. Whatever way guarantees us that we will get there the earliest would be best. Maybe walking is the sure fire way.

If we are going to get up that early I want to make sure that we get the most out of it and are there a little before they do the soft opening 45 minutes prior to official park opening :)

The only reason I mention the TTC center is because they may not have the main Polynesian Monorail loading station open yet. I thought they were doing construction on it? We are staying in Moorea building which is very close to the TTC anyway.
