Hi all! Not sure how long our next trip will be, maybe 7 - 9 nights? We think we'd like to stay at two resorts next trip. Now I'm thinking 3 resorts!!!!!

How many is too many? How many have you stayed at in one trip? S

I think three resorts in 9 nights would be a lot. But that's my personal opinion. I don't think you lose any parts of your day when you switch from resort to resort, but just the packing and unpacking, standing in line to check in/out.......that would bug me. I've switched resorts on one trip (AKL to GF) and was very happy with the switch, but I'd only do 2 resorts in a 7 or 9 day period. Now if I was going for 3 full weeks, then I'd be tempted to do one resort for each week. But until I win the lottery (or DH's schedule becomes more flexible) that won't be happening!

Anyway, this is just my opinion.........

Have fun planning!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Sandra:

We did that last trip, I agree with the above poster.

Our problem was ddaughter got a migraine at the ak park in the a.m. We went there after booking out of ank lodge.

We went over to the poly to check in , and low and behold our room was not ready til 4.00. She was a mess had to lay down cause she was going to be sick, I ended up sitting in the HOT parking lot at the poly for a couple of hours, til our room was ready.

She would not sit in the lounge at the poly as she was sick to her stomach and was embarassed.

Hi Deb! I was hoping you would reply! I remembered a CDN Diser doing 3 resorts and I couldn't recall who it was! THANKS! Sorry to hear about dd being sick! Poor kid! In 1998 dh, dd and I (ds only a twinkle in our eyes at the time) all got tummy virus just before we left.

I know we'll do two resorts, but when I think of all the wonderful places to stay, I am so tempted to do 3!

THANKS! S

We have split our stay between two resorts for a one week stay. Will probably do the same next year. Three resorts seems a bit much, IMHO. If you had more time, maybe it would be a better idea.

I just did 3 resorts in 11 nights in May and because I switch resorts so often I have it down pat so it is no big deal unless you have something like what happened to the other poster's DD. Thank goodness we have never had someone ill but we have had a couple times in many many times of changing rooms when we have been inconvienced by not having a room till 4:00 PM, but I have found if you check into the new resort fairly early by 10:00-11:00 and then plan to either be at a park or at the pool until at least 2:00 and then call to see if the room is ready we usually have our room by the latest 3:00 which works out perfect for us.
However I also think 3 resorts in 7-9 nights is alot. I did that once and never again. Too much packing/unpacking especially for 7 nights! My next trip to WDW is in Sept for 15 nights and because I have used up my DVC pts until Oct and I do not want to borrow and because the first part of the trip is for business so my employer pays for the room, I will be in the same room in the same resort for 15 nights. I have not done this in years! But to tell you the truth I am sort of looking forward to it, unpack and repack once, it will be a nice change of pace for me!

Okay, I think you convinced me! TWO RESORTS! I am not sure how long we will go for. If we drive, I can see us being at WDW for about 7 night, 2 nights at beach, 2 nights stay on the way to WDW and 2 nights stay home totally 13 nights, that gives us a couple resting days at home and the drive is almost leisurely (have not driven since I was a kid ~ we flew 5 times).

Now I have to pick the resorts! LOL!

If I can get great rates, we will do 4 nights moderate, 3 nights deluxe (or visa versa).

If we don't get great rates, we will split between value and moderate.

I was even considering HIFS. THX S

Hi Sandra:

We were supposed to stay at three but ended up staying put at the second hotel the poly. We did akl, poly concierge and supposed to do hardrock hotel at universal.

Hey I vote for you staying at the polynesian if you have never stayed there before, the grounds are so beautiful and relaxing. Just a suggestion, lol.

We did 3 resorts during an 8 night stay on our first WDW trip. We spent the first 2 nights at Poly concierge, then 5 nights at CS, and our final night was at WL. I really couldn't decide where to stay, so we just included them all! It was fun and I don't regret doing it that way, but I won't make that many changes again. I would go with 2 resorts again; the packing/unpacking doesn't really bother me, and it's fun to check out different the themes!

We are doing 3 resorts in 10 nights, but not by choice. I originally had 3 nts. @ Poly (lagoon view), followed by 7 @ POR. However, my sister & her 2 DD's have decided to join us, but can't come until day 4. Therefore, I had to switch the Poly to the middle ( I don't want to be cramped @ POR with them) and find something else for the first 3 nts., as I can't afford the Poly the whole 6 nights. It'll turn out to 3nts, 3nts, & 4nts. UGH... My DD is so excited about her cousins coming, that she'll make me okay to switch 3 times. Wish us luck - LOL!

We are trying 3 this time and have never switched before. We originally were just doing BWV and VWL on DVC points, but I want (need!) to save some more points to afford a small cruise next summer. So our weekend days (the most expensive points-wise) were switched to our old favorite, the Polynesian.
I hope it goes well. I'm not so much worried about checking in, but how long the luggage takes. If I check out of BWV at 10AM, how soon do you estimage my luggage will get to the Poly? We won't be leaving the BWV area until my parents get picked up by TTC at 1:30, so we won't check in until closer to 2PM. It would be cool if the luggage was already there!

We did 3 resorts on our last 10 day trip , and I would highly recommend it if you don't have small children. It was like having 3 seperate vacations. 3 nights on the South Pacific (POLY), 3 Nights in the pacific northwest (WL) and 3 nights on Cape Cod (BC). I am doing just 2 resorts this next trip - only 7 days, but If I were staying 9 like you, I would definitely try 3 resorts. Go for it.

I'm having a major dilemma about this same issue and we leave in 2 wks:confused: We will be staying 6 nights in Poly concierge and then 5 nights at the BWV. My problem is I really want to try the AKL concierge and I would only be able to do it on the last night. I am renting pts for the first 4 nights at the BWV and paying cash on Friday. I want to move my dates up a night at the BWV so we could stay 2 nights at the AKL, but I don't think it will happen. I think I am stuck with those dates. That only leaves us with our last day to try AKL. I just can't decide if it is worth it for one night or not? Will it be enough to experience it or should I wait for another trip? I was planing on checking in early and just having a resort day. The packing and unpacking doesn't bother us. We just drove to MI and stayed in 8 different places for 17 nights. We did that with 3 young kids.:p

Mirlow,
If you don't have any plans for the parks on your last day then you should stay at the AKL - even for 1 night. You'll have plenty of time to check out the resort while your room is being ready, and then you can have dinner there enjoy your room and wake up to an incredible view. It is such a great resort to relax, and would be a great way to end a great trip at WDW.

Just like Cottontail I had a similar problem. I was at the ASMu for 10 nights and then had to switch to Old Key West. Unfortunately I came down with a stomach bug the night before & was very ill the day I checked into OKW. FORTUNATELY our room was ready so I could go there and immediately lie down. It was awful having to move because I was so sick. I don't think I'd try two resorts at the same time again for that reason. I hated having to pack up and move when I was comfortable (albeit ill) in my original room.

We stayed in 3 hotels within 4 nights, yep, I must of not been thinking but for us it was just fine. My son is 19 so I didn't have to drag kids, I livied out of my suitcases. first night was AKL savannah view, needed to have that expereince, second night was Poly concierge. been going to Disney so long I had to stay there and get that expereience, I wish I had done it sooner, nothing like the poly. the 3rd one was BW in concierge, we were right over spoodles. Although I loved the hotel i thought their concierge was the biggest rip off. sorry to here your daughter got sick, I've been there and done that a few times when my son was young, I think sickness is one thing that should be ruled out when it comes to a vacation.:)

Hi Folks:

I think two resorts would be enough Sandra, especially cause your staying on the road, beach etc. You want to get the settled in feeling somewhere.

By the way we took 20 hrs, from Hamilton to Orlando on the 79/77/95 route. Stayed only one night on the road.

Thanks everyone for the kind words for my daughter with her terrible migraine on our switching resorts day. I agree there should be no illness allowed at wdw.

Deb.

I'm going in August with two teenagers for 9 nights - splitting the stay with three nights at BC, to cover the Epcot and MGM areas, then three nights at GF - take the monorail to MK and Epcot. The last three nights we will be at HRH to take in the US and IOA. I think this is easy with teenagers. I also plan to have a suitcase for the beginning of the trip, and a separate suitcase for clean clothes toward the end of the trip, so only one suitcase at a time need to be opened. I also planned my moving days on days in which we will be at the park for most of the day. By the time we finish, I'm sure our rooms will be waiting for us.

We have done two resorts several times and have enjoyed the change of locations. We enjoy the parks closest to the hotel we are in to shorten the transportation time.

We are going for 11 nights in August and are splitting our stay with 5 nights at CBR and 6 nights at Poly. We always thought we wouldn't want to switch becuase we like to get settled in, but with 11 nights I think we will be okay and are actually looking forward to the two resorts. I had thought about three because I really wanted to stay at AKL, but couldn't get the dicounted rates. Just think, there's always next time. If the switch works out for us we would liket o split between AKL and WL. Anyway, I think with driving 2 resorts is plenty. We picked a mod and a deluxe (only way we could afford deluxe was to save a few bucks staying at a mod first) We went with our favorite themes when picking the two resorts. I can't wait!
