Staying at Hyatt MCO - didn't need to select a PAT on checkin

I checked in last night for my cruise. We are staying the night before at the Hyatt at MCO. We booked the room through DCL and when I went to choose a PAT, it said I didn't need one. This must be a new change? I see a lot of people talk about a PAT with their stay at the Hyatt. Or is it just if you book separately and not via DCL? (The price was the same either way which is why I just went with DCL booking.)

Are you staying concierge? If so that is why you didn't need to pick a time.

We are in the same boat. Hyatt MCO and disney bus to port canaveral. We also did not receive a PAT, and from what I can tell, it's because we will be using disney transportation. I have heard "oh, that means they'll let you right on the ship when you get there" but I'm not sure if that's true. Would love to hear some recent experiences with this.

Edit: we are not concierge.

Several people have reported that they have booked the Hyatt and DCL transfers through DCL, and did not have to select a PAT.

I know that previous to this, the boarding number you got at port check in was tied to your PAT, and that those people arriving at the port via DCL transportation were allowed to enter the terminal whenever they got there (but still received the PAT they would have had based on their PAT, regardless of what time it was).

It seems that DCL has now started allowing for those with DCL transfers to be assigned a boarding number based on the scheduled arrival of the DCL busses (they have a pretty good idea of when most busses will arrive at the port).

We stayed at Hyatt MCO night before cruise and took DCL transport to Port Canaveral. Both were booked through DCL.

At check-in, I did not choose a PAT.

We took an early bus to Port, around 9am or so. We were given a Group 2 boarding assignment.

We were Not conceirge. It all worked great.

We also took advantage of the on-line check for return flight home (Delta) and this was another good experience.

I doubt they could let each and every DCL-booked bus person "right on the Ship" when they got to the Port.

We booked the Hyatt MCO through our TA, not DCL and have DCL transfers. We did have to pick a PAT, as tinkmt and Gigi22 did.

When you choose a PAT, is that only letting them know when to expect you? Then do you receive a boarding pass which tells you what time you will get on the ship? We booked our first cruise for this June and there will be 24 of us. We want to be able to board at the same time.

We just returned from our cruise yesterday. We stayed at the Hyatt, booked through DCL, non-concierge, taking Disney transfers. We did not/could not choose a PAT when doing online check-in. We were assured by DCL that when they scan you in at the ME desk in the airport the port knows when to expect you (they said when booked through them they treat the Hyatt like a WDW resort) ... Anyways, we got on the bus around 10:00, were given boarding group number 2 and were able to board the ship immediately - this was around 11:30 by the time we arrived at the port and checked in. We were completely surprised by this - we had expected that we would have to wait at least an hour or so to board.

When you do your online check in, part of the process is selecting a PAT. These are 15 minute windows telling DCL when you plan to arrive. You are not held strictly to the window, if you are running late. It's really more of a "no earlier than" time.

Each reservation must select it's own PAT. The PAT you select is tied to the actual boarding number you get at check in at the port. You will get the same boarding number, regardless if you actually arrive during your window or later. If your group winds up with different boarding numbers, and you wish to board together, DCL requests you wait and all board when the highest number in the group is called.

In 2012, we did the EBPC out of LA with my parents. They booked hotel and transfers with Disney and did not have an option to pick a PAT. We booked months later and the Disney hotel was "full". We booked the same hotel ourselves and paid for Disney transfers. I did have to choose a PAT and had a 11:30 PAT. Took the same bus to the port in San Pedro. Their boarding number was earlier than ours (maybe 1/2 hour earlier than us). They essentially boarded as soon as they were checked in. So there is a benefit to having the Disney hotel and transfers.

On a related note, can someone tell me approx. how much it costs for a family of 4 to stay one night at Hyatt MCO and get transfers to/from port? Working on my budget- thanks!
