We rented points to stay at BWV next month.. tell me i'll love it! How far are the buses from the villas? We have a standard view, any room section in particular I should ask for? We'd love to be as close to the main building as possible. Thanks for any info you can give us!

Std view are usually parking lot view. The bus stop is closer to the BWI, close to the convention center there. Any special requests need to be made when the member makes the reservation with Member Services. There is only one building at BWV, but it has some very long corridors.

We LOVE it at the boardwalk, we've had standard 1 bed with view of part of lake and part carpark but didn't care was fantastic, this year we've got preferred pool view and requested a 1st floor, i'm sure you'll love it wherever you end up, the villas and studios are lovely. Happy holidays

There is only one building. BWV shares the lobby/check in area with the BWI.

Would you like a view of IllumiNations' higher level fireworks from your balcony? If so, request an upper level floor across from the bus stop. This area is convenient to the bus stop (just walk down the stairs and across the street). Takes 2 - 3 minutes. There is nice landscaping /lawn between the Villas and the driveway. Note that these rooms are not close to the elevators. There is only one set of elevtors in the BWV wing - they are just off the lobby. If you are traveling with strollers, ECVs or wheelchairs, my advice is to request close to the elevators instead.

Have fun - BWV is our home resort and we just love it there. So far, we've always stayed in the standard vew rooms. The convenience of walking to two parks (EPCOT and MGM) just can't be beat. (You could also take a boat). There are many restaurants in the area if you don't want to cook in your room and it's always fun to check out the activity on the Boardwalk at night.

Best wishes -

I love the Boardwalk!! When given the choice I will always choose BWV over any other DVC (even BCV). There's just something about the location, and I love that pool area. Having the ESPN club right there doesn't hurt either.

Just a little advise (start saving your pennies) once you stay there you'll want in!!!

As for the view, do what CarolMN says, but to tell you the truth your never in your room anyway.

Have a great trip!

We stayed in a standard view studio this past May and really enjoyed it. We were aware that alot of the standard view rooms overlook the front entry way of BWV and if you are far enough out and high enough you can see Illuminations. Well, we ended up around the corner from those rooms, so we were not overlooking the entry way (or Illuminations even though this is what we requested). We could see the parking lot off in the distance, but it was covered nicely by landscaping. There was a pond outside the room, tennis courts in the distance, the canal that leads to MGM off to the right and if we leaned over we could see ToT at MGM. It really isn't a bad view. It was VERY quiet.

We were quite far from the elevators. We timed it one day and it was about a 3 minute walk, although we walk fairly quickly. However, this is about as far as it will get. The good news was that we were close to 2 stairwells. One was just steps away from the pool and the other was close to the bus stop and parking lot for easy access. We found that we exited that way 50% of the time while we went through the front lobby (to EPCOT etc.) about the other 50% of the time.

All in all, it wasn't a bad area. I would recommend if you have strollers etc. to stay on either the first or 2nd floor if you end up in this area. Good luck and have a great time!

So the lady that rented the points for me would have to make my requests for me? Is there any way they'd read a request fax if I sent it 4 days prior to arriving? I'd hate to bother the poor lady who made the ressies for me, I want to request either 1st floor or close to elevator if above the 1st floor as we'll have 2 strollers and I have a hard time walking long distances as it is (bad back) and I don't mind it in the parks because you stop often but it's lousy when you have to take an hour to get to the bus.. lol. Also, wanted to mention to them we were celebrating my daughters birthday (this trip is a complete surprise to her)... have the villas ever done anything to recognize bdays in the past or is that only the resorts? Great if they do, no big deal if they don't.

First, Melissa, what a beautiful family you have! And congrats on your newest addition.

It would probably be better to have the person you rented from to make your room requests. This really shouldn't be a big deal, it is pretty standard in renter deals. As far as doing something special for special occasions, I am inclined to say you don't see that in the DVC resorts, however.... when we rented points a few years ago a little bird (not us) tipped off the staff that we had an anniversary and birthday in our group and we got a special something. Maybe it would be best to mention it on check-in rather than have your renter do it.

I stayed at BWV, in a preferred studio, on rented points, three years ago. It was really very lovely. Being on the Boardwalk was great, make sure you take advantage of the Boardwalk Bakery... cinnamon rolls, chocolate croissants, mmmm. The pool is really nice too. The best is being able to walk to Epcot and MGM, we never bothered with the boats.

Enjoy this lovely resort. The BWV is a lot different from the more enclosed, self-contained resorts-- you really feel right in the middle of the action. It's great to take the kids on a nighttime before-bed stroll on the Boardwalk.

Yes, the member would make the requests for you but keep in mind, as with any room reservation at Disney, they are just "requests". I'm not sure about FAXing. I've never done that and we've always just asked at check in. As Deb & Bill says, there are some really loooong corridors but also as, las3888 mentions, it's a 50/50 proposition - half the time you'll be going one way (to the bus stop) and the other half you'll be going toward EPCOT or MGM. Did you rent a 1-bedroom? If you did, I think you will find it oh-so-perfect no matter what floor/view/distance you will be! The 1-bedrooms are GREAT. Love that washer and dryer. Oh, BTW, what a lovely family you have. Your signature pix is just beautiful! ::yes::

I stayed in a standard view studio at BWV last year and loved it. I was far out from the entrance, therefore pretty far from the elevators (I didn't mind-walked off all that food I ate), but I could see Illuminations fireworks quite well. Room #3111-I'd be happy to get it again!

The DVC resorts (including BWV) do not accept/read faxes. You will be wasting your time to fax.

The room assigners will only look at the requests listed on the reservation. If you have the number for Member Services (should be listed on your confirmation letter), you can try calling to see if the CMs will add your requests to the reservation. You will need to give them the confirmation letter and your name and explain that a member made the reservation for you. If the reservation is already in your name, the CM might take the information from you. Very possible they will not. In that case, you will have to ask the member to call on your behalf. Don't worry about bothering the member. Those who rent expect to do this for their renters.

Keep your requests as general as you can - those have the most chance of success. List them in the order of importance. Most people list their smoking/non-smoking preference first.

Best wishes -

Forgot to mention that the lobby level is 2nd floor - you don't want 1st floor if your intent is to walk out with your stroller.

Based on what you've posted, here's my recommendations for requests (in order):

Non-Smoking (or smoking if you prefer)
Close to the elevators or on Lobby Level
Dedicated (The dedicated studios and 1 bedrooms are a bit larger than the others. Some have more windows as well).

You can mention your daughter's birthday, but it is unlikely that anything special will be done. My advice is to mention it casually at check in and buy her a birthday button when you get there.

Have fun!
