Staying an x-tra night, can stay anywhere....

however we want to surprize the kids and will tell them just as they think we are heading to the airport. Maybe by just driving in to the other resort.

DH & I were thinking the GF (although I have said I would never stay here) nothing personal against the GF, I just don't feel I would feel comfortable here. But I know the girls would be psyched.

But we were also thinking the Fort WIlderness Cabins, cause they just look so cool (although we could probably stay here at some other time.

OR should we just stay at a hotel in relation to what we plan on doing for that night??

I've never been more confused? My first thoughts were straight to the BWV(have stayed here before but not one of the girls), but should give and equal tie to GF & Poly(we have stayed here before & Loved it).

Anyone have any thoughts on the matter? Or have you done anything like this before and can share your experiences?

With 2 daughters, you would be cutting into time at the park that day by packing.....

I didn't catch where you are staying for the first part of your trip...

Or you could arrange for PSings for lunch somewhere and then tell them you are staying at that resort. Tea at the GF might be fun. Or Beaches and Cream for BW...

Your right Eyore I should mention that we will be starting this vacation @ POR for 4 days (just the 4 of us) then will be joined by MIL & her BF (they are physically challenged) just can get around that fast (hence the first few days to do what we wanted to do on our own)

When they are with us we will stay @ OKW in a villa. The extra day is a perk that they tried to talk me into but I was adament about going to work the next day until SW opened their window today and I wasn't able to get the original day I wanted to leave ...so whats another vacation day eh?

Is OKW an option? Will the whole family be together on the last day?
if so you might surprise them in the morning, tell them to start packing up, you are going to get doughnuts or something and be right back. Let them start packing, when you get back have a creative story like you bumped into Mickey Mouse and he said you had to stay.

Not staying at OKW for the extra night how about this?

Say you want to go by POR because you really wanted to buy a mug with that resort name on it, when you get there, say its more than a mug...its an extra night! Then go enjoy Ol'Man Island! Or stay at POFQ for a slightly different atmosphere- but the option to run up to POR if you want to.
THe benieghs in the morning at the Food Court are AWESOME!

Staying on @ OKW is an option. Nana & Jim will be leaving @ 2:00 pm. Staying here would be much easier but, I was thinking of giving my niece (one of the 2 girl) who doesn't stay on property much a great memory (without alienating my daughters opinions on the matter).

We will have already stayed at POR previously and POFQ 3 yrs ago. For a couple of nights...... I'm thinking of WOW!!!!!! I know the GF would do that but for 1 night? WIll we get to enjoy it? Or is the point lost in coming & going?

Okay, okay, Im getting a feel for where you are coming from now. Im also getting very excited- LOL. I wish I could be there when you surprise them!!!

GF is certainly "WOW!" but it's also "OUCH" on the pocket book in my opinion, especially if you are checking out at 11am the next day. The extra day is going to be big to them too remember.

Okay, how about the Poly? Maybe you could work in the Luau for dinner that night too- OR! OR! A WISHES Cruise that night! (assuming its on a WISHES night of course)

The Contemporary has a awesome pool and Chef Mickeys...do you like the idea of incorporating a meal with the surprise?

I probably wouldn't switch resorts just for one night. The moving and checking in would just eat up too much time.

But - if you really want to do it, definitely go for the wow factor, and stay somewhere new that you have always wanted to try, but were nervous about spending a whole trip at. We have always wanted to try the AKL, but we wouldn't want to spend an entire trip there, so the one night might be fun.

Have a great trip no matter what you decide!!

will it be a park day? if not for extra "wow" i would go w/yacht or beach club for the pool... tell them you are taking them to a cool water park and really take them to sab!

another "wow" would be to go to the animal kingdom lodge, stay concierge and do the sunrise safari!

if they are into manicures and such, go for the spa at the gf and while you and the girls are getting their nails done, have dh check in so when they are done you can take them "home!"

of course, hopping on the monorail, getting off at any of those resorts, oohing and ahhing together about how nice it is, then just saying "how 'bout we stay an extra day here?" would be fun too!

i'm of the opinion that no matter where you stay and how you do it, an extra day in "the world" is always a WOW!

My wife and I switched resorts for the last night of a trip in Oct. Ok, it was only from BWV to BWI, but it was out of necessity. We wanted to stay an extra night and our friends who provided the DVC points for the BWV portion didn't have the extra so we had to pay cash for the last night and the only room available was at BWI.

We wasted quite a bit of time that day messing around with packing, checking out, checking in, moving our stuff to the next room. And we got lucky in that a very nice CM changed our room so we could move right in and not wait until after 3:00 pm. If we would have had to wait, it would have been an even bigger waste of time.

I would just avoid changing resorts if at all possible if it's only for one night.
