Stayed at POP recently...

We thought it was nice, but I think we liked All Star Music better. What does everyone else think? What's your favorite Value Resort, and why?

I've only been to Movies and Music, and preferred Music - just liked the theming and layout better.

Going for first Pop visit on Saturday, so I will let you know what I think when I return!

was there anything in particular that you did not like about POP? We are staying there in July. We've stayed at Movies three years ago and had a good time. Recently, we stayed at WL for our honeymoon and loved it. So I'm kinda afraid that I'm going to be disappointed with POP. Although the hotel does look like alot of fu

ASMo holds a special place in my heart. POP is my favorite value resort.

*We can rent surrey bike

*We can watch the fireworks and see Spaceship Earth from 60s bldg 4th floor. You can also see them from the 50s bldg too!

*I really enjoy watching the CM do their "Hustle" at the food court. And I just learned that they also do the "Twist" which we didn't get the chance to see.

*Tie Dye cheesecake! Yummm!

*Mickey soap/shampoo

*Better bus service. Doesn't share with other resorts.

*Really cool room furnitures. It's sooo 60s look or maybe 50s. TV is bigger at POP than the ASR.

*Wonderful...very interesting memorabilia of each decades on the walls.

*A very comfortable big area for the children to lounge and watch Disney movies while the parents check in.

*Three pools! One Goofy's POP Jet and one kiddie pool with fountains!!

*You can request for a view of the lake.

*There's a jogging trail along the lake.

*You can have a nice stroll and read all the facts signs along the lake.

*IT'S NEW...IT'S FRESH!!! It's the upgraded 2.0 version of the ASR value resort!!

Booohooo!! What happened? We really like this resort and one of the many reasons why we like this resort is coz of the surrey bikes. The kids and I enjoy them and we always always do this when we stay in the moderate resorts. And to have these bikes in a value resort is a big plus for us.

So what next? Are they going to take the Mickey soap/shampoo (the ones you find at the moderate/deluxe resorts) too?

I wanted to book a Value resort for our trip in September, (Couldn't beat the $59 AP rate) We will be staying at a value for the first portion of our trip and a deluxe the second half.

I was thinking maybe All Star Movie or POP for the Value. I was leaning more towards ASMovie because I thought it would be more "Disney-ish" with the themeing being about Disney Movies. When I called to book, the CM actually told me that she thought POP was a better choice. I've never stayed at a value before, so I did not know what to expect one way or the other. She did tell me that POP has it's own bus where as the All Star resorts have to share a bus among ALL three of the All Star resorts.

Telly, I am glad to hear that you like POP. I was also excited when I saw that you can rent a surray bike there. There are even Deluxe resorts that you can't do that at! Too bad they stopped doing that. However, I am excited to hear that you can see fireworks from certain buildings. And what is up with the "mickey soaps"? I thought that was standard in all the resorts. Are you telling me that Value resorts don't give you "Mickey soaps"? What do they give you then? Thats sort of funny. I've only stayed at one resort where they don't give you Mickey soap and that was the GF. Their soaps were more of the "Alice in Wonderland theme" How funny!

All-Stars will have an all-in-one liquid body soap/shampoo/conditioner dispenser.

Pop Century will have the traditional Mickey bar soap along with bottles of shampoo and conditioner.

I agree with you. I visited POP back in January and felt it was a little too chaotic for me. Although I did think the lobby of POP was nice. The buses were packed. I've stayed at ASMu 3 different times and never felt like there were people EVERYWHERE.
If I went back to a value I'd go with ASMu in a heartbeat.

That's exactly how we felt! There were people everywhere, and the resort was kind of confusing to get around, we thought. We did like the food court, however!

The resort is not chaotic... it's just familiarizing yourself...that's all. When you check in and give you the map of the resort, you can see the direction where things are. You can't get lost. There is also a big map board, if I remember correctly near the pool.

Does anyone know what happened to the Surrey bikes? They don't rent it out anymore coz it's on the value property? Tyler do you know?

Glad to hear the good things about Pop too, we stayed at Movies last year and are going to Pop this year. We really liked Movies, and I'm a little hesitant, but I'm willing to try!

What time do we have to be in the food court to see the Twist and the Hustle????

The Twist happens at 8am, and the Hustle happens at 6pm.

Both the Front Desk and the Food Court cast members will participate, so long as staffing allows.

Oh well... Or maybe most folks didn't know that it even existed! Maybe they thought that since it is a value resort that POP doesn't offer it. Well... I still LOVE POP!! It's still a 2.0 version of the value resorts. It's definitely a step above the other value resorts.

We have stayed at AS Music and POP and definitely liked POP better! It felt bigger and just less like a "Value" resort to us

I love POP! We had a quiet room, far from the pools and overlooking the lake.

I don't like All Stars simply because when I checked in - there was no room for us there! What in the world, right?! Um, I have a reservation for your hotel and there are no rooms left?! Yeah, I'll pick POP next time. I enjoyed my POP experience tremendously!

I'm glad to hear so many people love POP. We stayed at ASMo in 2001 and loved it! I was planning to stay there again in Jan 06 but DH wanted to try something new. We requested the 50s section. After seeing more posts I think I need to call back and request a 4th floor room with a lake view so we can see the fireworks.
