We had an incredible time at HRH 6 years ago with our kids. Everything was impeccable and I adored the bathrobes in the standard room (do they still have those?). Our kids will be 15 and 10 this August when we return. Should we stay there again or try a different resort? It was our first time at Universal and we didn't do any pool hopping so I have no clue if we would love the other two properties as much. Any advice would be appreciated.

We stayed at HRH 3 years ago and are staying again this August. We tend to be creatures of habit, athough, I do want to hop over to PBH to check it out, especially the pool. We lean toward smaller hotels and HRH is the smaller of the 3 and DD loved the pool, the slide and all the activities that went on around the pool during our trip and for an only child, that's a big deal. She made some friends and we all had a great week.

I made reservations for HRH, but I'm still undecided. PBH was the same price. RPH was a little cheaper. I think HRH will be fun because of the ages of our kids, but the rooms at PBH are bigger. We intend to pool hop too this trip. We had a four year old last trip so we just stayed put at the HRH pool because he loved the slide. Thanks for your input. :thumbsup2

We won't even consider RPH because the pool does NOT have a slide, so that immediately gets marked off DD's list :)

i have stayed at them all and can't complain about any of them.

i have switched to rph a few years back and now call it home.

who knows how i will feel 10 years from now?

if you plan to pool hop, then go with the hotel that suits you best.
check out the lobbies and what the hotel has to offer you for entertainment.

if you want larger rooms, then pbh would be ideal.
i do love their pool and the one at rph.

hop to the other pools.
try to be at rph pool area on a saturday for the conch ceremonies and hula dances.
very entertaining.

hop to pbh for the music in the evening.

if you want a small hotel, then that would be hrh.
it has less rooms than the other 2 hotels.

all 3 hotels have kid and teen pool activities and the dive in movies.

Thank you for the tips. We're going mid August midweek for 3 maybe 4 nights after a week at Disney. We hope to relax some with FOTL pass and enjoy the pools. Seems like PBH is the most luxurious of the three, but would it be boring for our boys? We loved the energy at HRH last trip. We went the beginning of August- not to busy not too quiet. Hotel size is not an issue at all. We want to be somewhere fun in the middle of the action and comfortable. RPH seems closer to Islands of Adventure too and our 10 year old is a big Harry Potter fan...plus, it's cheaper. Emeril's Tchoup choup's also has a great happy hour, but PBH has bathrobes. Awww...something about bathrobes. HRH had bathrobes in Standard rooms back in 2006. What happened? LOL. I'm so confused!!!

bathrobes are at RPH also.

they are always there when i am.

have been staying there the past 3-4 years.

all you have to do is call star service on your phone to get a bathrobe for your room if one isn't there when you check in.

Thanks Macraven. With 3 males and me in a room, it's nice to have a bathrobe! :) My husband and I are both teachers so we can't do these long vacations often. I want to get as much bang for the buck as I can. Waiting for APH rates for our dates. Still leaning towards HRH although my inner child wants to try something new. ;)

RP is our favorite resort.

It`s a beautiful hotel and we are very happy there, have no plans to stay anywhere else.

The atmosphere is wonderful. Pool area is a lot of fun with a great vibe around it. We never used to spend much time around other hotels pools but here we make a point of having pool time :thumbsup2

The fact you can pool hop means you get the best of all 3 available to you when you choose.

We have stayed at the HRH at least once a year, sometimes twice a year, a week each visit for 8 years...this year i finally decided to try a different hotel, got a great rate at the Portofino and booked it...my kids and husband were so disappointed not to be going to the HRH that i just changed it today!! obviously, our vote would be for the Hard Rock

while you are at hrh on vacation this year, you could go over to pbh and ask the tm at the front desk if they could show you an empty room at that hotel.

i would say go at a lull time so they have staff that could help you.

let them know you are regulars at hrh and want to see the rooms at pbh before you make a decision to switch.

in case you are wondering, yes, i did that before.....

After much back & forth between HRH and PBH and having booked both, I cancelled PBH and upgraded to a deluxe room at HRH. Just being creatures of habit and knowing we had such a blast last time we were there, I couldn't risk not being happy :)

This is what I plan to do. I think we'll take advantage of the pool hopping this trip and check them all out :)

Thanks for the great replies. We have decided to keep our HRH ressies. LOL. Still waiting for APH rates for August.
