Anyone stay here? What's good? What's not? Looking for a place this summer for me and DH and three kids - ages 5,6, and 8 - and my parents. Most places don't seem to want to go over 6 people. Getting two rooms makes the price unmanageable for us. Other suggestions appreciated, too. We will have a car. Plan on spending all day in the parks with no mid-day break, with a day off in between (drive to the beach, etc).

I can help with other options:

Ramada Maingate just built new suites last summer that sleep ten. They are really big, over 900 sq ft I believe and have 2 rooms with 2 queen beds in each room plus a sofa sleeper in the living area. 2 full bathrooms as well. Free parking and a free small continental breakfast.

I was just looking at suites and the Hyatt OC has some that sleep 8 I believe. It's not walking distance though. Never stayed here, but it's on my list to try. It looks really nice and modern and I think the suites are 700 sq ft.

Another place I was looking at is Residence Inn Maingate. Haven't stayed there either but looks nice for the size. Free parking and breakfast too.

We've stayed at the Hyatt. Really liked it and figured that would be our go-to place from now on, but my mom said recent reviews are not good (I haven't looked myself yet). It was different enough and consistent enough that it seemed like there may be a management change or something that made it different. Still on the list to investigate, though. I don't know anything about the Ramada or Residence Inn. Maybe someone will chime in that's stayed there.

I've stayed at the Ramada in the new standard rooms, they were really nice. Double sinks with granite separate from the shower/toilet. They are really new, so everything was pretty nice. I would guess the suites would be similar.

The thing we don't like about the Ramada is the noise. It's a "motel" style, so you hear a lot of noise outside of your rooms. Much more noisy then say, the CCI. I don't know why it's so loud. We stayed there a bunch of times in the last 2 years and have decided to stay elsewhere because of it. Plus, we really miss the "hotel" feel we got used to at the PPH before the crazy price hikes after Cars Land opened. Also, be advised that I believe they are starting construction again on the lobby area, so there might be added noise with that.

I think the Fairfield Inn has suites too....

Bummer to hear about the Hyatt... =(

Even though you will have a car, I would still recommend a walking-distance hotel if you want to take a mid-day break. The parking shuttles can eat a LOT of time.

We are staying at the Desert Inn and Suites next week. They have a suite that is basically two adjoining 2-queen rooms with a separate small living room with a pullout couch. They say it sleeps 10. They have a couple of other options, too. No kitchen, just minifridges and microwaves. It's very near the main crosswalk on Harbor. It is typically described as "clean and basic." I booked well in advance, and the biggest suite was under $150 a night.

I have never been to the Desert Palms, but it's at Harbor and Katella, next to the 7-11. It's what I would consider the limit of "walking distance," but it is close. As I've said, I've never been there, but I do know they have suite options for larger families.

I was at the Staybridge Suites last night and will have a review on the 2/6/14 DIS Unplugged: Disneyland Edition podcast. A blog with pictures will also be released that day.

I stayed at Desert Palms. My room was a 1 bedroom suite with two queens in the bedroom and a double sofa in the living room. I have no idea if they do cots or have larger suites. We loved having the full kitchen and included breakfast. The sink area is outside the bathroom. Our room was spotless, pool basic but fun. We could not see fireworks from there if that matters. In terms of walking distance it is a 10 minute walk and no streets to cross and the option of taking ART 1 stop. I agree with using the location as the furthest point for easy walkability.

We've stayed at staybridge many times. When we don't stay in site we are always there. The rooms are a good size, I love that they have a table for the kids to eat dinner at when we bring it back with us. The breakfast is great, tons of choices, just be sure to get there early or go later because it gets crowded.
There are places closer, but we prefer hotels over motels and is only a 5 min drive

When was your stay at Desert Palm....I am going crazy trying to decide where to stay, we would like a room with bunk beds and I have seen mixed reviews about the Desert Palm so I am a little nervous about it!!

We're taking our kids to Disney for the first time this December. I also have three kids, and my parents coming with us! I'm looking for a two bedroom suite, with kitchen, ideally. But a one bedroom with full kitchen would work, as long as we could book another individual room. Any suggestions?

I can't say enough GOOD things about Staybridge. No joke, we've stayed there pretty much every single time. I actually did a full review of it on my blog if you want to check it out :)

We are planning a trip next fall, our group is at least 6 maybe 10. I've been looking into park vue inn, it's a bit more expensive but looks like it's got a great breakfast and it's right across the street.

We prefer Residence Inn Maingate. Free parking, large rooms, free hot breakfasts, clean rooms, housekeeping, free grocery shopping, 24 hour pool, and a 12 min walk to the park.
