Nov 9th DH and I will be renewing our vows at WDW. It's a big event(60 family members will be joining us!) at the wedding pavilion followed by reception at the White Hall room and patio at the GF. DFTW gives us a free night at the GF RPC. We will be staying at the GF RPC for 3 nights total. The night before, the night of and the night after the vow renewal. Nov. 8-11. It will me myself, DH and DD 11, DS 6.

I have the THV booked for three nights during that same week, the 11th-14th. I am having 2nd thoughts about this ressie. We will not have a car and after looking closer at the pictures we aren't impressed with the decor. I am really mostly worried about being "out there" with no car. I do not want to rent a car.

Do I have any chance of a BLT 1 bedroom or studio MK view at the 7 month window? Should I switch just because of the no car issue and decor issue at THV?(am I being silly?) I keep thinking that maybe a change of scenery is good and I should stick with the THV. I don't know what to do. DH and the kids will go along with whatever I choose so they are no help! LOL

I have no clue why anyone would visit WDW without a car? You're spending thousands to stay at GF, why not spend an extra couple hundred on renting a car?

That being said, if you don't have a car you should NOT stay in the THV (just my opinion). I really think a car will be a must when staying there.

Well the GF portion is not thousands of dollars!;) We get one free night so we pay for 2 nights and they give us about a 40% discount per night. So it's not that bad. We are spending $15,000 on the vow renewal so money is not the reason for not renting a car. We never rent a car at WDW and never needed to. We don't go offsite. We use DME for transport to/from the airport. DH travels 2 hours each way to work on a daily basis and when he is on vacation he doesn't even want to see a car!LOL So that's why we never rent.

I really agree with your opinion on the THV and having a car. I am swaying more in the direction to change my ressie.

THVs iirc will have 2 stops within that area either for bus or shuttle-type bus and a pool within the area as well; and also there is boat dock located in THV area too. There is a section of THVs that is closest to Grandstand villas and it looks to be not such a bad walk over to Carriage House & main pool area. (there was thread in past couple days showing map of area & detail - if I can find it I will post the link)

If you can't get 1 bedroom at BLT, jmho I wouldn't take studio at BLT(or anywhere else)....with all 4 sharing bathroom, smaller space, etc. afterall it is your 'vowrenewal-moon' and extra space/bathroom/privacy may be nice :goodvibes

CONGRATULATIONS pixiedust: & an abundance of happy years to you all :flower3:

I think it's a really important stay for you all and you should be where you are going to feel most comfortable! I think if you don't like the decor, or the idea of being that far out, you should chose something that suits you more!! You can always check out a THV on another trip. That being said, after a VR, I think having some privacy with your DH would be important, so I would definitely chose a place that allowed that and wasn't too small!! I know you all love akv- how about there? Can you get concierge (maybe it's too late?)?? That would be special! Or how about blt? That's really close to the action. Or one of the epcot resorts would be fun too I would think! I would call and atleast see what is available and go with your gut reaction to what feels best.

Good luck!!!

would change - but since you are staying in the MK area already - how about BWV or BCV?

the food/wine will be over - so getting a room there should not be a big problem.

now if you still only want the MK - then BLT.

my new home resort - (for years it was OKW)

Thank you everyone!:goodvibes

We have my mom taking care of the kids on the night of our VR for some alone time. Also, I have offers from numerous family members to take them for as many nights as we would like!;)

I do agree the studio at BLT would be too cramped for us for this trip.

So, I am still undecided!:lmao: I guess availability will make the decision for me.

We have been to WDW 15 times and we have only driven a few times and that was years ago. We find the the Disney Transportation to be just fine. The only time we rented a car was for our first ever trip in 1992 and we drove it to the resort and it sat there for 5 days til we drove it back to the airport. The other times we drove once from MD (never did that again) and once from N.C. and two times from AL but both of those times we went down with in my parent's van.

Last summer we spent 14 nights at WDW....8 at OKW and 6 at BCV. NO car.

So I think a lot of people don't rent or drive to WDW for their vacations.

We've never gotten a car for our WDW trips(including the annual Thanksgiving trip). Works out for us just fine.
