I've booked an early morning flight out of Detroit and was wondering if anyone has a good lead on a hotel we could book and leave our car there? We'd need to park for nine nights and we wanted to go down the night before because Dh has had problems in the past getting over the border. :scared:

Park at "Big Blue" right at the airport. $8 a day and it's pretty easy to get in / get out of. We used it last year and found it to be very easy.

Theres got to be hotels along Merriman Road for you. Good luck!

Whatever you do stay away from the Howard Johnson's for their park n' fly! We stayed there a couple of weeks ago after flying in late with the park 'n fly for 9 days and what a dump!!! I was really nervous about sleeping there as the place stunk! It was so bad that I got my DH up early and said let's get out of here now! I didn't even shower there it was soooooo bad! Yuck!!!:scared1:

I've used the La Quinta Stay Park and Fly package before for and early flight at Metro. The hotel is not fancy, but it was very new, clean, and offered a free contential breakfast. Also their package lets you park right next door at one of the official bigger parking lots. Some of the other package only include parking at the hotel. It's usually not as secure and their shuttles don't run as often as the bigger lots.

You may have to call the hotel directly. If I remember right, I wasn't able to book it over the Internet.

We had an awesome experience staying in Detroit at the airport!!! :cool1:

We drove there and actually used the same "Big Blue Deck" that another poster mentioned. The only thing was that we drove around for about a half hour in the lot looking for something, but it was ok because we got there the day before!

I checked on Expedia and found lots of really "cheap" airport hotels but we actually decided to "splurge" for the nite and got a rate of $99 CAD through Expedia.ca for the Westin right in the airport!

Let me tell you, this is one of the nicest hotels that we ever stayed at... it was right in the airport, so the car stayed at the airport and we took shuttles all over. :goodvibes

The Westin Heavenly beds :cloud9: were awesome but DH will always remember it as the time that we couldn't sleep all night in the most amazing hotel room ever because we were too excited to go to WDW. :rotfl: We even saw Cedric the Entertainer (comedian) in the lobby staying at the same hotel! Oh yeah, and if you have kids, they'll love that most of the rooms overlooked the runway... we had a great window view, and completely soundproof. DH loved it too!!!

However, if you do go with this hotel, I recommend bringing some food with you because we found the restaurants too expensive, we ended up ordering in delivery pizza. popcorn::

Baymont Inn the night before we leave and doing Park 'n Fly. Cost for the 10 days total is $82.50.
My sister in law and brother have both stayed there and found it quite to their liking!

We stayed at the Double Tree Hotel, our TA booked it for us. It was 99US a night and our parking was free. It was a really nice hotel, they shuttled us to the airport in the morning. I would stay there again. It was on Merriman Rd. I believe. There were tons of different hotels on that same road.
Friends of ours stayed at the Quality Inn, it came with a continental breakfast and they were happy with it.
Good Luck!:goodvibes

If you are flying NWA Westin is great, because they valet your car and you can walk right to the terminal without leaving the building. Otherwise, you can shuttle to Smith terminal. You can get a good deal via their web site IF you have a Fri. or Sat. stay. Otherwise, it's more. It's a beautiful hotel.

We also tried Hilton Suites last year with a park-fly package, and it was nice, bedroom and living room and work area. They even offered the nite we checked in to follow my husband over to the airport lot (off-site) in their hotel shuttle, wait for him to park, and drive him back. Then in the morning, all we had to do was take the hotel shuttle to our terminal. WHAT A TIME SAVER! and they were so nice, too.

Also, I don't believe that any of the hotels offer long-term parking on-site, they are all on one of the big airport lots. Just keep that in mind, it does take time to park before your flight.
