Stay at AKL - kids like the pool - hate the food ?

We have eaten at AKL. Never stayed there.
Sounds like great AP rates.

Our DS & DD like the bunk bed idea and love what the pool looks like.
The did not Jinko and sort of liked Boma.

If the kids do not like the food - then what ?

Other eateries at AKL ?

The Mara is pretty much a typical food court, open for all three meals and snacks.

I would pick the hotel where you will like to stay and not worry about the food court unless you aren't planning on eating in the parks. I can't see us eating at the hotel at all, except for one planned meal there and only because everyone says it is so good. My kids would rather have a great pool then a good food court anyday.

The Mara is decent - sandwiches and pizza that kids usually like.

But, they didn't like Jiko? Did they try the mac & cheese? - it is the best I have ever had.

I totally agree! The mac n cheese is awesome, plus my DD got peanut butter and celery and make your own smores from Jiko. Mara is on par with all of the other food courts.

We also do not like Jiko or Boma and stayed at AKL in October. It was really nice. We planned meals in the parks we were at, but Mara is also very nice and has everything you'd want for counter service and snacks.

We found the kids' buffet section of Boma to be pretty much identical to all the other kids' buffet sections in WDW. Mara has the same kids' food found at most of the other resorts as well. Note - the Mickey waffles go fast!
