I already ordered the 5 day for price of 2 tickets for my two girls,, but I find it curious that the 'stay and play' with 2 free tickets for your length of stay for a deluxe room with aph at PBH is actually $93.00 a day more than if you book without the 'stay and play' option.

date: Aug 4th thru Aug 8th
2 adults in queen deluxe room $216.00

2 adults in a queen deluxe room with 2 free tickets for both parks is $309.00

Am I missing something? A person booking this would actually be paying $93.00 a day more for the 'two free tickets'?

Is my math off, or is that really paying $372.00 for 2 free tickets??

Hello,

I booked the "Stay and Play" package for late-July and we paid a total of $1400 but this package includes more than just the two tickets. Like you said in your last post that it was costing $92 a day for this package. It only cost you 225.68 for 4 passes for the length of your stay.

When I looked up the package it was a total of $1729.84. That is included;
  • Universal Express (.00)
  • CityWalk Party Pass (.00)
  • Universal Orlando Stay and Play Pass ($225.68)
  • Meal or Wet 'N Wild ($72.00)
  • Insurance - Land Only ($54.00)
  • Delx. Room ($1378.16)
You can take off the Meal or Wet 'N Wild and thats $72 less, and also the Insurance and it would be another $54 off.

Room taxes are also included in the "Stay and Play" package, so you can take a little off there as well.

At the time we booked our "Stay and Play" package it was the best deal available to us. We wanted to stay club level at the RPR and we just couldn't locate these rooms at a discounted rate for our dates. We were able to apply our Fan Club discount and ended up getting a pretty good deal. (imo)

The numbers I quoted are before tax is added. Also, it was with APH discount, and from the Loew's website, which doesn't break down what you end up actually paying for. Seems if they want to give two free tickets, for the same room with out free tickets, the cost should remain the same for the price of just the room? I booked our first trip thru Universal Vacations, and did the length of stay passes, and later I found out how I paid way too much. It was a lesson learned. I was just surprised that adding 2 free tickets made the cost of 4 nights go up by $309.00 when you could pay less for the same room, and pay just under $200.00 for the 5 day tickets for the price of 2 day.

Well,

I got worried and had to crunch the numbers to put my mind at ease. I checked what I booked and it works out that my tickets are indeed free. I also checked for a date next month and it worked out as well (within a couple of dollars). I did this through the Universal Studios Vacations website and only looked at club level rooms at RPR.

There are so many variables involved. You are doing the right thing by researching the costs so you can get the best deal. Good luck.

That's good to hear :) We loved the club level at the RPR. The breakfast selection is really nice,, if you like cinnibons,, they do a huge tray full of them. I had to promise myself that there would be alot of walking later to get rid of those calories. But even the fresh fruit spread is massive. The only thing I regret, was that we never made it back to see what the dessert selection was like in the evening.

It will be interesting to compare the PBH club lounge offerings.

Yeah, for the moment, it's still cheaper for me to book the room seperate from the tickets. I just find that to be very bizarre. :earseek:

Have a great trip!

I'm a newbie to all things Universal ... could someone tell me where to buy the 5 day for the price of 2 tickets?? I checked the fan club website and didn't see them there. Is there another site I should know about? Thanks

Hi Teris,

Thanks so much for the link to the website... we're planning to go next year, probably early May. I know it's a long time away, but I'm one of those "planner" types and as I said, I really don't know much about Universal. Thanks again -- Hope you have a great time in August

I am well known in my family as being a vacation 'overplanner',, they scoff, but little do they know the hard work that goes into these 'seemingly' flawless vacations LOL,,

you are doing the right thing,, keep on reading what everyone else is doing, and you wont' go wrong :)

I am from Houston originally, and SA is one of my favorite cities in Texas :) We used to do Seaworld and Fiesta Texas there all the time. :) In fact, we used to do Seaworld so much, that we have never gone to the one in Orlando,, kind of a 'been there done that' situation. You will love Universal tho. :bounce:

To use a WDW phrase "It's a small world" (I know, all of you are now going to have that song going through your head.... sorry)

DH no longer thinks I'm nuts to start this process early -- a major accomplishment!! It's amazing what one learns on these boards.

We've been in San Antonio for 5 years and never want to leave. I've been amazed how quickly I adjusted to the climate. We've done Sea World here, but might try out Discovery Cove in Orlando if it works out. Looking forward to Universal next year.

Thanks again for your help & have a great trip

We're also doing the stay and play. Prior to buying the package, I had a fan club rate of $164.00 for RPR standard room. I have a family of four and would need four adult tickets. After doing the math, I'm paying only a few dollars more, for the stay and play, and I have tickets and hotel bought and paid for. No hassle. I love it. I was also able to get the fan club discount for the package.

I have never heard of a fan club discount on the stay and play discount.I think it's one or the other, not a discount on a package deal.Im getting a deluxe room for the 4th of july and it was way cheaper to separate tickets and room.fan Club rate on room and 5 for 2 on passes.Remeber the stay and play package is for 2 tickets not as many are in your family,if that was so then I would have gotten the deal.

Yes, I'm getting the 2 free tickets + 2 tickets that I had to pay for and Yes the fan club discount as well. What's the price of the 5 for 2 tickets? I'm adding 4 tickets at 89.95 + room 164.00 (fan club rate) per night plus fees and taxes. When I did the math I liked the package deal that i'm getting much better.

Im still not clear about what package you are doing. Are you going with the stay 4 nights get 2 tixs free discount and buying 2 tixs or are you getting the fan club rate room($164.00) and buying 4 tixs.if your telling everyone that they are giving you the fan rate(164.00) on the stay 4 night 2 tixs free deal then I would say YA OKAY!!!!!
Never heard of giving a discount on a deal that says no discounts on this deal.I called to confirm with a manager and she laughed.
Who knows maybe you got the one and only deal.:scratchin :rolleyes1 :jester:

Okay:crazy: Here's the deal, and this is the last time that i'll post on it. I didn't post the info for an argument, I just wanted people who were interested to know the deal that i received. Just as I said in my last post; I booked the stay and play package, with 4 nights and 2 free tickets. I added 2 additional tickets to that package and I received the "fan club discount" on this package. I can't explain what the "manager"you spoke to found to be humorous, but either you told her a funny joke, or she just doesn't have a clue about the vacation packages that are offered at universal. The figures that I gave in the earlier post, .....164 etc. That was the fan club rate that i booked directly with the hotel, before I found the package deal. That's it ! It's not rocket science and there's nothing mysterious about it. Ummmm......maybe it is a deal they created just for me :teeth: After all i am a Universal princess princess:
